Hello From Northwest NJ

Postby tkahike » Wed Sep 10, 2008 12:06 am

Hello all!

I was directed here by a friend on another board I belong to. My family and I camp at every chance we get and we have a 30 foot TT that we use for a lot of our local (150 miles from home) trips. However I think like most, we started with tent camping, then moved up to a popup, then a TT. Well with gas prices and the like, to continue our travel habits, we needed to slim down our haulage. Next year we want to take the kids out west to tour the states, I also have a dream of doing the Alaska trip.

With that, I have a lot of friends that I visit in the middle of the country, so I needed something that I could pull without killing my gas budget. I had seen some of the 4x4 trailers that others have built and some of the professional built ones for sale. Figured I could do that. So I did :lol

I'm almost done with it, took a better part of the summer.

Actually it is designed to hold the weight of persons on the roof. But mainly I will sleep in the Suburban or tent camp. The thought was for more long distance crap hauling  I have a tent that will footprint the top nicely if I need to, well the kids could sleep inside on the shelves :D

Welcome to the forum. Interesting Chuck Wagon. Now you need to build a tent on top of it! Or maybe it's time for a teardrop! :o

I have a 30 ft TT for easy living :) I have to make sure my kids know how to tent camp and learn primitive skills. They need to learn all the stuff that was passed down to me.

welcome! We went from tent to pop-up (which we sold) and now it's time for a tear drop.

What does Raayat mean? I asked Frederick.
He answered without hesitation. Gatherer.
Of what?
Knowledge. Experience.
He paused, then added:
Options. . . .

Pretty cool Chuck Wagon tkahike.

No way, swissarmygirl. Grew up in Ridgewood, and lived in Highland Lakes before I moved to Delaware. Where in North Jersey are you from?

Hey, we were practically neighbors!
I currently live near Wayne. My childhood was split between Lyndhurst and North Haledon.

You aren't kiddin. I lived on the east shore of Packanack Lake until the 4th grade! Then, off to Ridgewood. :D
Maybe we'll see you at Parvin in October. I'm going to try and get there even if only for the day.
