Source for Aluminum in Phoenix

Postby zbxb006 » Fri Sep 12, 2008 9:50 pm

I am looking for a source of aluminum roofing/siding in 8.5 ft width. I have found a couple sources in IN and CO but the shipping is prohibitive. A source in CA is just outright crazy pricewise. You would think a city the size of Phoenix would have a source, but I haven't been able to find one. Checked the usual metal suppliers and some trailer repair folks.

Anyone know of a source in the Phoenix area?

Thanks, Bill

Yep. They have 49" wide prepainted, coiled, unlimited length. But not the 8.5' wide. Someone else had also suggested Elixir - no luck there either, or Industrial Metal Supply.

In fact everyone says they have never heard of ally that wide. If I can't find it I guess I'll just have to live with seams. Anyone else have any suggetsions on a source?

I didn't mention it, but I am builing a small enclosed car-hauler trailer for my race car. Not exactly a TTT, but it is only 13' long and 6.5' wide, so at least it's tiny, relatively.

Find a place that does semi-trailer repair. You can get 120" wide roof material as long as you want.
I don't know of a place close to Phoenix, but Google maps should be able to help. Here's a place in the Central valley, CA that carries it.

I finally gave up on the wide aluminum search and settled for 49" wide roll (65' of it) prepainted from United.

The trailer repair places swear there is no such thing as 102 or 103" ally in Phoenix. Lupers price was actually double what is on their web site and I didn't even get to asking about shipping from CA. All very frustrating.

BTW, the best deal I did find for the wide stuff was at RV Surplus in Elkhart, IN. Shipping costs to a home address is what kept me from ordering it from them.
