low cost trailer fram

Went to Tractor Supply Co. yesterday. They had a basic utility trailer called a no floor utility trailer it was $279.00. Looked perfect for a tear. Tractor supply has the spring mounts so the axel can be moved back with out cutting out the original mounts. Has a 2000 lb axel and 1000 lb leaf springs. The frame is made of 2” X 2” X ¼” angle iron with wheels, no sides and fenders. It has a 2X3” bolt on tong with the hitch and tail lights. Looks perfect for a 4’ by 8’ tear. The tong could be replaced with a longer one and the front could be curved. Heck the front and back could be curved to make it 10’er. The trailer is made by Carry-on Trailer Co.. They may make 5 by 10 footers? They have a web site take a look.

Chuck,

I looked for that trailer on their website, but I didn't see it.

Are you planning on going back? Could you take your camera and share a photo with us?

Thanks,

Mike...

Mike, I agree. It sounds like a near-perfect tear platform.... beefy enough, but not too overweight.

I called Carry-On trailer corp. at 1-706 356-5379 and they will make a custom no floor trailer for you. They can make it 5X8 or 5X10 and if you specify where you want the axel they can do that also. Tractor Supply Co. did not have any left to take a picture of. They only handle the 4 X 8 version. The manger said he sells them as fast as he can get them.
It is just an angle iron frame with angle iron cross pieces. Your floor can drop in to the frame. There are no sides to deal with. Just the frame with welded spring hangers, springs, axel, wheels/ tires, fenders welded to the frame, tong tube with hitch and a tail side marker lighting kit. It’s everything in a trailer frame to start a teardrop.
