What a great site this is. I plan to start my first build in the spring and have all winter to plan and learn.

Can anyone recommend a profile/plan that would be a good first time project? My criteria are; 5 feet wide, simple, light enough to pull with a small car and one that won't take me all summer to build. I love camping and am looking to move out of a tent and off of the ground - that's it. I don't need electricity or anything fancy - I'll save that for my second build. I was going to buy a utility trailer to tow all my stuff when going camping, and then found this site and discovered a new use for a trailer - build your own shelter on it - cool!

I love the look of the Benroy, but I'm afraid that those beautiful curves may be outside my skill/comfort zone. So I'm thinking about tackling the weekender plans from http://www.mikenchell.com/. From what I've been able to determine this would be a good first build - yes/no? It seems that the final plans for this (mikes-weekender-final-2) are actually buried in an old thread. My plan-B is to simply build a kleenex box type profile - but that little rectangle is soooo ugly when compared to the benroy.

Cheers

Image to the playground Swampgas. The curves are no biggy really. Truth is they all have their challenges. With the weekender you need to seal those edges real good so it balances out.

Take lots of pictures so we can lau---uh cheer you on. Besides the keep the bubble oil level 8)

(we like to joke a bit too)

Welcome, any questions will be answered with a smile :) , keep in mind , if you go 5 wide , the wieght will go up, so you may want to check your towing cap on your tow veichle. The benroy is not as hard as it looks. Check out the generic plans at the top of the page. Good luck and keep us posted. 8) AND with a name like swampgas, you might want to put a real good exhaust fan in
