Maybe you could order the cheaper foam stuff on line. Have ya thought about that? So it wont be so expensive?

I know down here you they have a insulation for houses that can be sprayed behind the sheet rock to fill up between the studs. Try calling a local insulator business and see if they can do that for you and save you some time.

Every now and then I am useful.....but not often.

Well winter is fast approaching, so I need to get cracking on things that will make my southern migration easier (if I get to go). Insulating is the name of the game. I went to install another can of expanding foam, but nothing came out . So I started to work on the bulkhead. I need to add bracing for the hatch props and create me a 3/4 gap for the insulation. Here is one brace installed.



More bracing to follow. Yes it will make my galley about an inch shallower, but thats ok.

Inching forward, installed a whole two pieces tonight,and cut out a third.

For the pattern, of the two side pieces, I still have an extra rib from when I made the walls (I know it is cheating, but hey it has come in handy several times.

A question just to the right of the two center brackets are several nuts holding in the fuse box and circuit box. When I insulate and put the other half of the sandwich in there will be no access to these. Should I put wood there with wood screws, instead of the bolt and nut? I can think of no reason to ever remove these items, but if I did.

Ya know...if it's just the backside of a fuse and circuit box...even if you had to remove the boxes...you could do a fix easy enough!!! My vote is to insulate and not worry!!!

Moving on on this insulation process, I need to install the clearance lights before I insulate. Now a question of style, do I install the lights pointing up or out?


Either way they are visible from the side, and I am small enough that I do not need them so, what do you think?

One of the things I need to do is adjust the door, so I can find out how much spring back the door has. To do this I had to remove the door and hog out the bolt holes so I could push in th door.

After a lot of swearing get door back bolted on, and discovered the door only moved in about half as much as it should have.

Tomorrow is another day right?

Dan first of all welcome to the forum. I really want someone to build another one of these, so I can look at the pics of coarse and see where I went wrong.
