England calling

Postby glider » Sun Sep 28, 2008 10:39 am

Hi folks. Been lurking here for a while and figure that you all seem to be an ok kind of crazy crowd. So its hello from the sunny south coast of England. I have started to shop for my build and will post pics asap. I hope i can get things kinda right on my own but may have a few questions for you all as my skill level is 0. Just gonna wing it as far as design goes as i have trouble making decisions. Still im sure it will be ok in the end , just hope that comes before the spring :worship:

Glider,
Welcome to the forum from Pennsylvania USA. Did my own homebuilt and didnt follow any certain design. Do your own. It aint gonna be wrong cause its yours. We all do things to suit ourselves. So just have fun. Theres as much fun planning and collecting parts as there is in the building. And believe me if you got any questions, just ask em here. There lots of wonderful people just waitin to help you.
Enjoy the build.
Bill :applause:
Hope to see you on the road.

Hi glider

Welcome to the crew. If you need advice and guidance, you've come to the right place.

Just gonna wing it as far as design goes as i have trouble making decisions
... Are you sure about that.

If you're done by spring looks like we might have enough UK trailers for a decent sized gathering next year!

Keep us up to date with your progress and best of luck.

Cheers

Welcome, Glider, from the sunny south coast of Southern California. Actually so sunny, we have had no rain for about 3 months. Looks like you are about to enter one of the most exciting events of your life. Designing and building your own teardrop, and then actually using it, is just that.

Do check out the Hall of Fame and jog your mind as to what style you like the most and start sketching that new "Glider-Rider" teardrop trailer. Good luck on your build, remember, pics, post and get together with those other Brits that have posted..........

Welcome from a fellow UK lurker

Hi Glider,
Like you I've lurking for a while, and am only at the scribbles on a piece of paper stage. The most terrifying prospect is telling my wife I plan taking an angle grinder to our old trailer tent - but I know the caravan style chassis is excellent quality, just the canvas, poles & bed boards which are shot. It would make ma great teardrop.

Pity the Uk scene isn't as active as over the pond - nothing like seeing other people's "up close & dirty" to get inspiration.

Anyway, all the best with the build (if you ever get that far!)
cheers
mal

Hi Jackdaw, I have seen the Ebay add that you speak of but i dont think it would be worth my while driving that far with the price of :( fuel being what it is. I live near to Hastings I think 100 miles would be a fair estimate.

:o :o The south cost covers a few miles then

It's a fair way from us too, but I think it would be worth a trip down in the van for a trailer's worth load.

Image to the playground Glider. Your skill level is higher than 0 as you have some skill for internet research. That is a great first step. Second---you have a great group of builders to share with in your country. Third---you understand the need to keep the bubble oil level with those :pictures: :pictures: :pictures:

Enjoy
