Buying a 5x8 trailer?

Postby Kens » Wed Sep 10, 2008 10:56 am

I have a 4x8 TSC trailer under my TD and am happy with it. Just priced a 5x8 no floor TSC trailer. This is a spec order from them at $501.83 delivered to there store close to me in three weeks time. This is assembled ready to go. Need to start my second build? what do you all think?

Ken,

We have the same trailer as you, but a 5x8. We got it at Northern Tool for $299.00 on sale, reg price $319.00 (they usually keep them in stock). They are the same Carry-On trailer TSC carries. If you have one in the area you might want to check it out.

Good luck on your build.

Hi Mark and Pat good to here from you. Nearest NT store for me would be about a 6to8 hour drive each way. Not good don't have a truck to haul and with gas prices? What to do? I was looking at your album and have a question. What sizes of ply and lumber in your floor? My first TD was 1/2 ply and 2x2s kind of heavy need to go lighter. thanks Ken

It is 1/2 ply on the bottom, a frame of 2x4's in the bed area with one down the middle, and 1/2 inch ply on top (cut in 4 pieces that each lift up). It gives us storage area under the bed.

Bummer about the NT store.....

Is the 5x8 a store only product? I can't track it down on their website.

It could possibly be, since it would a pain to ship. It's not a bolt together. Our NT here in Murfreesboro, TN seems to keep them in stock. The TSC store here had the 4x8's last year by the same company, Carry-On.

$319 is the usual price here in TN at NT. I bought mine last year for $299. I have not looked at them online. Be sure you are looking at the no-floor trailer.

The $300 NT trailer is a in store only item. You will not find it online. I used this trailer for my build and I've seen it for as low as $239 on sale.
