Well I really did it now!

Good morning everyone, my name is Mark Frost and I reside in Delhi , Ontario, Canada. I just received my plans from Kuffel Creek for the Comet teardrop.

My handle is Snowman since I come from Canada, and since my last name is Frost , I grew up with everyone calling me "Frosty" after the snowman....so I felt the name was appropriate.

I'm not the most Computer savvy guy; however, I will get pictures online once I get rolling on the project. My family is divided on this project. Our son is excited , my daughter embarraseed, my wife is ambivalent. I'm really excited and can't wait to start stockpiling materials.

My theme building this will be: Keep it light, Keep it simple, Recycle materials where I can, and enjoy the experience of building.

My background is aircraft maintenance and I presently work for Transport Canada ( The Canadian FAA) as a Safety Inspector . The group I work with does the oversight of all the large airlines in Canada.

Looking forward to completing the project and getting out on the road and meeeting all the wonderful people .

I have told the story many times on this forum.

My wife would watch from the kitchen window shaking her head thinking I had lost my mind.
I plodded onward and the ugly clunky "thing" began to take shape. One day I mentioned the "Galley" and she said what? (being a flat lander and not boat savey she was clueless what I was refering to). "A little kitchen in the rear Honey" I replied! That was it she was at my side helping design HER kitchen. Did I mention she loves to cook ! She was now onboard with this idea and had several of her own ideas to incorporate. The flip out "kitchen" was her idea I seriously doubt I would have thought of it. Get the "Box" ready and backyard sleep in it as you build. It sounds crazy but ideas will flood in as you experience the teardrop style of camping.

Welcome to the forum. It was the wifes idea for our Teardrop. She saw them several years ago on the Travel Channel and she never stopped talking about it. So to apease her I decided to build her one. And ya know I started to get into it. Now I love it as much as she does. Your wife will get into it once it starts taking shape. As for your daughter I have 4 grown daughters I hate to tell you they still get embarrassed by the things the wife and I do. And we dont care.

You will really enjoy your build, I don't have a wife anymore, and the neighbors shake thier heads when I ride the old Schwinn to the store, I think they think I will kill myself, ain't dead yet. I think if we wait for others to approve, it just isn't going to get done. Got to go, need 5# of flour. I am making cookies, No one ever shakes there head at my cookies. Jim G

I started out with the Comet plans as well, though I very quickly started to customize because of all the great ideas on this board. My final product doesn't much resemble the Comet any more, but it was a great jumping off point.

Take your time and look around for ideas, ask questions, lots of questions but don`t forget to take lots of pics.

Hey Mark...we share your last name and this newfound obsession with this forum and our build. Lots of great ideas and helpful people. Leo (Frosteez) and I welcome more snowmen!

PS. My daughter just got married this summer to an awesome young man from the land to the north...we like Canucks just fine!

With a theme in mind, you might make it look like an Igloo.

Paint it white and call it your snow house.

BTW, I was too lazy to build one, so I bought one and am remodeling it.
