Trying to locate a Back Fog Light - Found

Im trying to find a stainless encased back fog light that is EC Approved or Eu Approved. I cant seem to locate anything that looks decent here in our country..

It installs under the bumper..

I forgot all about this light needed to be installed required by law..

Rear fog lamps are not required here, and are rarely used. Off the top of my head the only supplier I could think of which offered them aftermarket (many years ago) was Hella, and in their British site they show a rear fog (2NE 009 001-021) with an optional chrome (not stainless) cover; I don't know what's in the Finnish site, because I can't read it.

I found what Id like however cant tell if it has the E1 stamp.. but if anyone can locate one like this or similar with it being approved Id sure be one happy camper..

Try a marine store and look for some spreader lights. The lights that mount on the cross arms on a sailboats mast.

rear fog lights are in place to keep some one travelling too fast from running up your behind. My Audi has them. Unfortunately, in the US if you turn it on in the fog, you are likely to be pulled over by a peace officer who doesn't know what it is and will try to cite you for a missing bulb as it is a single red light (brighter than your tail light) - or as a fishing expediton to see if you've been up to no good.....

Heikki....I might be wrong on this, but the clear one you show in your post appears a lot like a late 60-early 70's back up light for a VW bug, that was attached to the bumper, well back up lights over here. We used one on a "chopper mini-bike" for a headlight we built in about 71. Maybe there is something along those lines that can be used. Does it need to be clear or a colored lens? Doug

What cars have a light that you like? BMW, Porsche, Fiat? You should be able to find a classic replacement.

The idea of original equipment from a classic car seems promising. Does anyone know when rear fogs became required equipment (to indicate the range of model years to consider as candidates)?

The light must be red... which means a red LED, red bulb, or red lens. I don't know if the lens must itself be red. If the lens itself is not required to be red, then a front fog or similar lamp would be an option with a red bulb... but I don't know if that would be affected by the approval requirement (i.e. is the approval specific to front or back mounting).

Finally Found ... Im a happy camper.. ahh well to be a happy camper. After searching my 8000 and some posts and replies I found a website that our Design Tech. & Forum Friend Andrew from England told me about ages ago.

Well I found it. Also I found the fog light also that is EU Approved plus some other fascinating lights to look at.

First I ever heard about REAR fog lights. I know the ones at the front are placed low and help you see better in the fog, but rear? I won't be driving backwards in the fog, and as for somebody seeing me, That's what taillights are for. I'm one of those people tht believe your headlights and tailights should be on as soon as you start the car....

So... is this a new law or sumpin???
