Trying to locate a Back Fog Light - Found

First I ever heard about REAR fog lights. I know the ones at the front are placed low and help you see better in the fog, but rear? I won't be driving backwards in the fog, and as for somebody seeing me, That's what taillights are for. I'm one of those people tht believe your headlights and tailights should be on as soon as you start the car....

So... is this a new law or sumpin???

Regular rear lights are useless in fog that's why you use the rear fog lamp so that you can be seen much earlier than if you rely on just your tail lights. It can be one or two rear fog light(s). Most of Europe requires them and they can be found on some imported european cars as part of the rear tail light assembly. As with my car they are the two lowest and innermost lights. They are very bright....they can also prove to be useful when someone decides to try to ride your tail....not that I switch them on when that happens...........

Foglights are as bright as brake lights, so the travelers behind you see you better than with normal backlights. Its not the meanig to use them , but when it overcomes you during a trip, you can and must use them (when the seight is less then 50 meters) . And alsso during a snowstorm, you never know what weather you will have.

(at night) This turns on the rear foglights on late model cars. They are bright and it looks like their brake lights are on, very distracting.

This is not alowed in The Netherlands, when the police catches you it will cost you 90Euro s. Also having front rog lights when there is no fog or snow are not allowed and will cost us a lot of money. I live in a country with to many rulls. For example using your mobile phone not handsfree, will cost around 180Euro s, speeding 3 km/ hour to fast will cost 19 Euro s.
I am very happy sunlight and rain are for free, but we don t know how long it takes before we have to pay for that too.

That's what spotlights are for (as opposed to foglights which shouldn't be used except in fog....so I guess that since I don't use them unless when appropriate I must be the exception to "everyone"...) to light up the road at night. I don't know of any cars that have the front and rear fogs on the same switch....if that is the case with "late model cars" then that's a major blunder....my late model Jag has a dedicated system that allows you to put the front fogs on independent to the rear fogs ...I guess that's a judgement call depending on the density of the fog.

The switchs are seperated, When you use the front foglights, you have to shut down your headlights till you only got your very small front lights. They are the same lights to use when parking on a unlighted raods. Front fog lights are placed low, because in fog time you must see the sides of the road, not 300 meters in front. When using the headlights in fogtime, you only see a big white wall, where the road is somewhere in.

It is British and possibly European law that all vehicles,registered and used on the road after April 1st 1980 , this includes trailers over 4 foot wide, should be fitted with a rear facing fog lamp, on the drivers side of the vehicle or in the centre
