Attaching floor to frame

Postby Kelly Coker » Thu Oct 16, 2008 10:57 pm

I haven't seen any explicit instructions on doing this. Are the bolts going through the frame or are there tabs to be welded to the frame or is it something entirely different?

The choice is entirely yours. I bought an $11 drill bit and did mine. $>

The short answer: yes, yes, and yes. it all depends on how you are building and what trailer you are using. Mine bolts through the floor into the trailer frame. some have screwed it to the frame , while others use a combination of adhesive, bolts and screws. As you can see there is really no definitive way of attaching the floor. I've seen some that use 16 bolts and others that use 8, or 4 bolts - Just be sure that whatever method you use that the floor is securely attached to the frame!

KC, that choice is actually yours...some bolt directly to the frame(works well for angle and "C" channel)...some weld in tabs for this(works well for tube built frames) and we "float" our floors and connect the side walls directly to the frame(works well for us)...as long as the body is connected to the frame in a safe manner, all will be well.....
