 it really is a shame that not more of us Td's exist over here in Scotland to enable us to help each other in our builds and with plans and ideas, on practical level really more than anything, similar to my t4camper.co.uk web site where we have a self help group that is growing daily and which aims to supply practical assisatnce as well as online chatting and discussions which are of course of great help also, but hands on at the scene if you like is way better, this is one of the reasons i started T4 Camper in the first place to enable likemined T4 owners to be able to get together in a sort of club both on and offline to be able to help, assist and support each other when needed.
Maybe i should start one for Scottish or Uk wide Td owners also, its not as if i don't have enough to do in running totally solo just now my T4 Camper one, however being retired due to ill health early [at 45] i have all the time in the world i suppose and enjoy doing it so shouln't grumble.
Something i might look into at a later date or add to my T4 Camper website as an extra feature on how to build and extention to your current camper maybe !!!

Hi

We Brits (albeit mostly sassenachs) are pretty well represented in our own chapter over at Tearjerkers. Come and join us there too.

That seems to be the way of it. I used to live in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and where did I go camping on vacation? 500 miles to the north in the Adirondacks of New York!
By the way to one and all my name is actually Dougie

Pronounced "Doogie" I presume?

RV/Caravan junk yards

If you don't mind used parts, there should be at least one RV(Caravan) boneyard somewhere close by, doors and windows might be easily found.

Hi T4camper, Evan here another newbie from Airdrie havent built mine yet either but have been checking out E-bay and have found some bits and pieces cheap. There are loads of windows there but remember to ask for a shipping discount for more than one item. There is also the Scottish Ad Trader and have recently noticed a guy from Larbert advertizing spares and windows for building campers in the caravan accesories section. As for waterproofing you cant beat fibreglass resin covered in boat primer and paint it worked on the boat I made this summer. Good hunting.

Evan
hi so im not the only one then !!!!
I havent managed to get a chassis yet still looking around i have however gotten details of a guy close to you in Carluke that strips caravans and has a lot of windows doors etc which i will dig out his details for you. hes called Richard and im sure will be ok to deal with..
Hes not got a chassis to suit me yet but hes looking so hopefully sometime soon !!!
Keep in touch im sure we will be able to help each other no end as time goes by..
Cheers for info about fibreglass resin clears it up a bit for me prssumably you mean just the resin and no matting as i had considered using thin thin matting and coloured resin ???? what do you reckon ??? know anywhere relatively cheap for it semi locally to us

Welcome to the forum and greetings from Finland.. Im also here all by me lonesome building and playing with a teardrop trailer. No other buddies to help or assist. Not enough to start a club or chapter

But hey you have your Uk friends a little closer to you than what Ive got here.

Its however helpful to be on the Forum here and these folks are just Finntastic. I couldnt have done it without them.

However the on hand experience had to be and has to be done by me since there isnt anyone nearby to help build. But so far so good.

Hunting for the parts has been a real pain in the hind quarters as well as the laws and regulations.. but still Ive overcome the major setbacks..

Pick out a profile and make some sawdust, and enjoy.

Ohh we do love the photographs too.

Good Luck and again Welcome

Hi T4, evan here I put the wrong user name so I guess I am stuck with it. I did mean using the matting along with the resin but dont do it the way I did as it worked out way expesive. I tried looking for somewhere on the net that was local but couldnt find anywhere so I tried Halfords and found some in the repairs section. The resin comes in small tins and the matting can be baught seperate.I chose the fine stuff as it is easier, the mesh took with a couple of extra coats of resin and a fair bit of sanding to get it reasonably smooth. I know that you can order it over the net but I just didnt have the time as I only started building the boat 2 weeks before we went on holiday, no pressure there. I made an armpit of the paint, used the wrong kind but it did the holiday and I stripped it when we came home. You seem to have been luckier than me in finding a caravan breaker and I would certainly like the adress if poss. The no of the guy in Larbert is 07005 983517. Ev.
