Hello. Great site you have here.

I have been looking for some time and really enjoy the site

I guess I shoud say a few things about myself.
I am located in the Elkhart Indiana area.

I have some unexpected free time on my hands and thought I might build something to occupy my time.
I am leaning toward a Grasshopper and think I would like to do it with siding like the original.

But with so many great designs and ideas to shoose from its hard to decide.

Hello "TTTfan", for the lack of a better name. Welcome to the best trailer builder/buyer/user site on the web. You are in the same boat that many of us have been. Just think, with trailer makes like Kampmaster, Kit, Benroy, Scotty Serro, Kuffle Creek, Scad About, Modernistic Cub, Call of the Wild, Hunter Shadow, Camp-Inn, Li'l Bear and Kenskill, as well as the Grasshopper (and others), you have a lot of shapes and sizes to choose from.

Many builders modify some of these designs to suit their own tastes. What is so pleasing, is that there are no two trailers that are alike. I suggest you do a bit of sketching of profiles and lengths and then Git-er-done to suit what you like best.

Good luck on your build, and remember, ask questions, take pics and post 'em and then come and join the happy folks at some of the Midwest Gatherings. BTW, I'm sure you are aware that there is a great camping trailer museum right there in Elkhart. Worth the trip over to see it.

TTTFan Welcome,
Hey take your time, the planning is as much fun as the building. Once you start thats it the bug has bitten you. We enjoyed our build so much. Keep thinking of things we want to add. Just remember you can always change the plans to suit yourself. No rules. Thats what great about building your own Teardrop.
Enjoy the build,
Bill  :applause:
Hope to see you on the road.

Image To the playground. Sounds like you have a plan, almost. Just remember that it is yours to build as you like. The only really hard fast rule is that you :pictures: :pictures: :pictures: to keep that bubble oil level. Oh and you might need some wheels. 8) :D

Hi "TTTfan",

Welcome to the forum. You live in (or near) the RV capital of the world. So you shouldn't have any problem getting parts. Have you decided what you are going to build yet?

Mike...
The quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten, so build your teardrop with the best materials...

Thanks for the welcome everyone.

Mike, I havent made a definite decision yet on what to build.
I am leaning towards a Grasshopper, with the idea of doing the exterior like the original.

I am fortunate with the availabilty of parts and suppliers in my area.
I was thinking about hitting some local salvage and some surplus places and see what I can come up with.

Welcome TTTfan,
Always good to see you a fellow Hoosier on here, Stick around here long enough and you'll change the plans many times before it's done.
I'm in the middle of a big remodel on the inside of mine
Don't forget the pictures

Also don't forget to check out the Midwest section for gatherings we have about 3 a year here in IN. Hope to see you there.
