Hello from Granite Bay, CA

Well this isn't my first posting... been reading a lot, posted a couple where I thought I might offer something of value. But probably time for a real introduction...

Name is Steve and the login name is a bit of a tradition going back a bit to my first foray into a cyberspace bulletin board. That board was a special interest around the Mustang Bullitt and my login was a combination of what the car sounded like and it's special ID number. Been driving that car and using this psuedoname ever since. I probably have one of maybe 6 Mustang Bullitts in the US with a trailer hitch on it 8) (I am biased but think this car makes an excellent class II tow vehicle)

One of the big time consumers in my life is being an Assistant Scoutmaster for my son's Boy Scout troop. So I get to go on just about one weekend camping trip every month. I used to be a human rotisserie on the first night out but over the last couple years I have gotten more accustomed to sleeping on the ground. Sure would be nice to not have to deal with tent setup/takedown and have a thicker bed pad though

I am also a bit of a gadget guy and love to build things. One of my recent creations is a charcoal powered camp hot water heater. Demonstrates heat convection quite nicely. I used to build R/C airplanes and recently have spent a lot of time "building" my 1968 Chevy El Camino. Gotta figure out a hitch for that thing someday to go along with the 4-flat connector I built into the lighting harness.

Needless to say the idea of building a small trailer that could be towed behind the Mustang and hold all my camping gear/gadgets sounds mighty appealing. Having everything stored and ready to just bug out... priceless :) But first I have to A) convince the wife it is a good idea and B) decide on what to build. I am not sure which is harder  (was all set on Benroy until I saw Sawtooth/Grasshopper and now???)

Thanks to scouts I have also discovered Dutch Oven cooking... seems like I fit in here real well from what I have read.[/i]

Vrooom -- you'll definately feel at home here and no doubt add a lot to the community.

I'm a big fan of Mustangs -- the early years and the post-'94 models. My 16th birthday present was a '69 Mustang. Sold it after 14 years and 220,000 miles (the first 100k were put on by the two previous owners).

Never imagined camping with it and I worked in the Oregon State Parks for four of those summers!

Anyway, welcome!

:applause:

Aha, another Califorian joining the group. Welcome aboard, and hope you enjoy the good advice and building tips we can give you. First, get the sweet wife in step with your plans by taking her to a gathering of teardrops and/or tiny travel trailers, and she will be hooked.......too. Next, get that trailer and get started. Ask questions, take pics and post em. Good luck on your build, and remember once you sleep in that comfortable teardrop or tiny trailer, a tent or on the ground will never be the same.
