Hello, from Reno, NV

I have been lurking for some time now and decided to set up a account. I would love to build a teardrop, but lack the space, time, and money. However, I can lurk and get ideas for the future.

Here are the details about me:
I am currently working on a master degree, while working for 40 hour a week job, and teaching scuba diving, first aid, CPR, and motorcycle safety during my nights and weekends. With all the I have going on time is hard to find, but I hope one day to have the time to tinker and build stuff. Maybe, I can build a teardrop that is a hovercraft also, not sure that would work. I do manage to find some free time to go camping from time to time from my motorcycle, along with the trailer I pull with it.

Motorcycle = FJR1300 AE
Trailer = Aspen Ambassador

Welcome to the forum!

There are several of us in the same boat with various issues of time, money,etc. Just gives more time to research and refine out teardrop plan. A teardrop hovercraft ---now that would be interesting. Hope you will find a way to reach your goal in the future.

Howdy John,

Also a diver and "The Drop" is great for dive Campouts, especially up here in the Great Nor'west... (read Rain).

Same situation of sorts, so I just went out and got one.. that way I could enjoy it other than waiting years to build it...

good luck...

Hi John. We found our teardrop trailer in Reno a few years back. We came out there for Hot August Nights. A friend of my wifes couisn who lives there had it in her front yard for sale. We are looking forward to returning to Reno, Sparks in a year or two. Great city.

Hi John and welcome! A lady on this forum, "Tiny Trailer" (Mary Ann) also has a trailer like yours that she brings to gatherings. She can't back it up so she just unhooks it and pushes it in place. Very easy.

I lived in Winnemucca for a few years and went to Reno every chance we got. Loved skiing at Squaw Valley.

It sounds like your life is full...I can see how you wouldn't have time for a build. But at least you are enjoying yourself.

Again, welcome aboard.

Thank you for the welcome comments.

Canjun, I have to unhook and push my trailer back also. It is not easy to push a trailer backwards without reverse.

Image to the playground John. Nice rig! So how does that pull? :shock: I have a thing about going fast head first. :? You can still come camping with us. We don't discriminate against the little TTT.

Enjoy

It pulls great.
The main issues pulling a trailer with the bike is braking. As the bike stops the trailer continues to push. This is not a big issue in a automobile and there is not much of a chance of falling over. On a motorcycle, if the bike and trailer are not perfectly straight with each other there is a bit of a push and it can swing the rear of the bike out. Because of this issue I have electric brake on the trailer. It stops the trailer from pushing me.

Those rumble strips on the side of the road SUCK when on a motorcycle. In an auto if you hit those strips you pull in the direction. On the bike if the trailer tire hits the strip it pulls the rear of the bike with it.

Even with the extra concerns related to pulling with a motorcycle I love having the trailer with me.
