Paid $2.219 on the way home from LCG on sunday.

I've seen $2.09 here in mesquite

Gasbuddy reports prices well below $2.00/gal in the South Texas Valley.

NEW YORK, 10/30/2008 (CNNMoney.com) -- Exxon Mobil Corp. set a quarterly profit record for a U.S. company Thursday, surging past analyst estimates.

Exxon Mobil (XOM, Fortune 500), the leading U.S. oil company, said its third-quarter net profit was $14.83 billion, or $2.86 per share, up from $9.41 billion, or $1.70, a year earlier. That profit included $1.45 billion in special items.

The company's prior record was $11.68 billion in the second quarter of 2008.

That is good news! The price for us is down and the profits for the shareholders are up.

Finally got all the way down to $2.65 around here. Woopee! :x
Another dollar and I'll be moderately happy.

I really don't ever expect to see it hit $2.00 here, taxes are way to high on it.

Those were 3rd quarter profits. Prices were high during the summer, IIRC.

Lower prices now are due to the weak economy. So, if we can keep the recession going, we can continue to enjoy cheap gas.

Don't we need to START a recession before we can keep it going?

Granted the economy has been weak, but for the past two years we've heard the constant drumbeat of "RECESSION!" and all the while the economy was still growing, albeit at a snail's pace. A growing economy does not a recession make.

Now we may actually have very minuscule one, much to the delight of Democrats who of course will blame it on President Bush, never mind the fact that they are now in actual control of the economy.

Not that the Republicans did any better when they had the purse strings, mind you.

And Ira could never figure out why I'm a Libertarian...

I filled up at the Coeur d'Alene, ID Costco Saturday morning at $2.24. I went back a couple of hours later to pick up some other items there, and it had gone down to $2.20. I found out this morning that a day later, they dropped the price yet again - to $1.99!!!

Now that's about where it SHOULD be.
