evtherev here, my wife baught me a computor for Christmas last year and I have only just learned how to switch it on. Seriously though it has taken me about six months to figure out how to get on this site. I came across this site by accident when looking at boat plans. I stumbled upon a site called angib and when I logged on there it was, the Teardrop. I was hooked and have been viewing the site ever since. Hopefully I will be able to make a start on mine soon and have been collecting bits and pieces meanwhile. I hope to build my tear using as much recycled material as possible though it is tough finding old metal as it is all being shipped to china and most of our scrapyards are empty. Anyway not to worry these wee things are sent tae try us. My two grandsons are looking forward to seeing it finished and loved the boat I made them for the summer holidays. I have managed to post one picture and it only took three days so dont expect anymore soon, Bye for now Evan.

Welcome aboard! Scotland is a beautiful country. We went there for vacation 2 years ago and loved it. Went to Ireland this year but I liked Scotland better.
We look forward to your build and more pictures as you figure out your computer

Hi Evan , good to see another UK builder the number over here seems to be growing all the time . When do you plan to start ? do have a look at the design library, the hall of fame, and the galley gallery are all good to get the juices flowing. Also you will be able to find more UK builders over at tearjerkers (link at top of this page) I hope you enjoy your build looking forward to the pics.
Mark.

Hey, did you know that Andrew (angib) is at the east end of Hadrian's wall?

You guys should get together! :D While you're there, talk Andrew into building a teardrop.

Ayup mate, welcome to the world of teardrops. I see you are going to try and do your build from as much recycled material as possible. I have done exactly that, and am 2/3 of the way done for under £100

Welcome to the forum. Your post mentioning Hadrians Wall, prompted a google search, which I found facinating. I've never even heard of it, and it is the most visited site over there? Must be more important than stone hendge. Anyway, enjoy your new-found teardrop madness, and good luck on your build..........Long live Hadrians Wall.

A good fiction book based on Hadrian's Wall...

http://www.amazon.com/Hadrians-Wall-Nov ... 990&sr=1-1

I read it a couple years ago, and it's a good book. Take it camping with you or something...

Thanks for all the welcomes

Postby es009d7705 » Sun Nov 09, 2008 2:44 pm

Thanks to everyone who posted a welcome to the foram. I loved th picture of the two wee dugs absolutely gorgeous. I would like clear up one of the myths reguarding hadrians wall. Contrary to popular belief Emperor Hadrian didnt build the wall to keep us out as he left many gates in it. Actually it was built to protect the Romans from another savage that lives north of the border "the Midge". The Roman insectologists of the day discovered that the scottish Midge only flies at a maximum height of six feet so they built the wall twelve feet high to make doubly sure the little blighters(the polite word)didnt get over it. They left the gates so that they could trade with us and thats the true story honest and thats the one I tell to all the tourists. Once again thanks for all the replies, Ev. ;)

If you Aericans want to see Hadrians wall just watch 1992`s Robin Hood Prince of thieves starring Kevin Costner. Quite how he got there on his way from Dover to Nottingham is a mystery though.
Incidentally the REAL Robin Hood was a wood cutter from Wakefield not Nottingham!
