Roof And Siding Suggestions

Postby Ryan Taylor » Thu Nov 06, 2008 5:37 pm

I am planning a build of a unit that will be approx 78 inches wide by 14 feet long and have a head height of 6ft - 6 inches. I am stumped on what to use for the roof and wall covering materials. I would love some input.

Thanks

 Well Ryan do you like wood or aluminum? You can also use vinyl for the top. The sides are the same. I used 3/8" Baltic Birch for my sides. It runs 5'x5' sheets. For something taller you can choose to stand 4'x8' sheets upright. Depends on if you want to frame and insulate or use solid wood. Lots of choices. You might look at some of the builds and pup in Andrews Vintage Plans for ideas.

Enjoy

Hi Ryan,

Thought you left us for good after your first post last May. Welcome Back 8)

You might want to look at some filon for the walls and roof. Here's a link http://www.rvsurplussalvage.com/catalog/display.php?product_id=1879

And this time don't wait so long to say hello again.

You could try contacting a manufacturer of semi trailers, these often have aluminium roofs and sides, and if they are like the ones over here, the sheeting comes in 8 foot 4"wide rolls. So you could get a length long enough to do the sides or roof without any joins. This is the route i have gon down to get the sheeting fot my roof
