I am a Woodbadge Fox (hence the name and avitar). I completed Cub Scout Trainer's Woodbadge in 1993 in Columbus Ohio. I have been a Scout Leader since 1988 when my son joined Cub Scouts. My now 27 year old Eagle Scout son is an Assistant Scoutmaster and I am semi-retired from Scouting. In my almost 20 years as a Scout Leader I have also trained at Philmont, been to the National Jamboree, received the District Award of Merit and have been awarded the Silver Beaver. The highlight of my Scouting career was when my son "Called Me Out" for Vigil Honor recognition at the Order of the Arrow Fall Fellowship. It doesn't get any better than that.

This is my first post on this forum and I must say, this is one of the best forums I have ever come across and I am looking forward to many more posts. :thumbsup:

Jimmy,
Just noticed this post today. My wife and I went to Woodbadge this year. SR925. Bear Patrol. Had a great expierence. Every Scout Leader should attend if they possibly could. I have been involved for 16 years now. I was a Cubmaster for 6 years. Currantly, I am Committee Chairman for our Pack and Troop, plus our District Commissioner. We have one son who is an Eagle Scout, and another who is life, working on Eagle. We attended the North Meets South as wannabees. We talked to a lot of folks, and was amazed at how many currant and former Scout families were in attendence. Teardropping would be such a natural progresson for Scouters. Anyway, I should only have one more ticket item after this weekend, if all goes well. Keep it up!

Ricky

Woodbadge

Postby Harold Sultzbaugh » Sun Nov 09, 2008 3:00 pm

HEY there old timers;

I took Woodbadge training about 30 years ago. That was a great week!
I used to be a bobwhite, a good old bobwhite, I'll skip the old and feeble
part and I quit workin my ticket about 10 years when I retired from
Scouting. The lessons learned will never be forgotten...

As a Boy Scout in the fifties I began collecting BSA stuff; now I have
a large room full of memorabilia.

I'm pleased to talk to other Scouters. So- happy trails until we meet.

Started Scouting in the 60's, right around the time of the mercury space launches for those who might remember the plastic space capsules BSA was giving out about that time. Gave up my silver epaulets (another Scouting reference) in the early 90's. I still live by a lot of what I learned in that 30+/- years.

For the other side of the coin: I was also the first ever male 01 leader in the GSA!!! Girl Scouts and I had an understanding.... I would never break their rules; but I sure would bend them until they screamed!!
