I got all excited about the idea of HTH Re-store. Looked them up on the net and found ou there was one in Memphis, only about 25 minutes away. Drove over there this morning for a quick look see just to check it out. There was a sign in the window. The closed operations back in July!!! :x They need to update their webpage; nut I guess that's done by volunteers also, so I can't really fault them. The next closest ones are in Florence, AL.... Jackson TN.... Searcy, AR... or Hattiesburg, MS. A little too far to go just to browse.

Oh well..... back to yard sales and dumpster diving.

I'm buying mostly new stuff for my TD. By getting other people to pay for it. I buy & sell stuff on the interweb. Both ebay & locally.

garage sales locally are mostly a waste of time. In a suburb of 15,000, we're lucky to get 1 each weekend. I almost wish I lived in Taupo. It has a similar population & it's number of garage sales averages over 10 each sat, all year.

We're going into the dead zone up north, too. The last few yard sales passed by in October. I'm still looking for a pop-up frame to start with, but hope is fading of finding one before snow sets in.

My wife wanted to get rid of a sofa/sleeper. The matress fit nicely in the tear.
Holy cow, Rose is a teenager now! Done? Surely you jest. A teardrop is never "done".

My wife compares me to Sanford and Son. I came across a fridge that was dumped. It was stainless steel 8) . It is now missing the shell. My trailer now has stainless steel serving tables.

I found a Hero vacuum cleaner at a garage sale yesterday morning. For only $5 I now a quick & efficient way of collecting saw dust.

Try Craigslist. I got two boat trailers in the past week off there. One FREE and one for $150.

I don't recall if you said Rochester or Buffalo area; but I just pulled this one up this morning.

This one is a little more than I would pay.

Dumpster diving

Postby Harold Sultzbaugh » Sun Nov 09, 2008 3:21 pm

My list of scrounged stuff includes; duck decoy, utility trailer, 45 auto. parts, old doll house, and something I've wanted for over 60 years--
a nice little pedal car(straight out of a dumpster in Baltimore) Thank you very much.

The utility trailer chassis will be used soon for my first build. It is
titlled 'homemade' and has been in use for about 35 years. The rest
of that stuff will be sold to help pay the bills for my trailer.

Still dreamin and scheming ;

Harold

Good stuff is where you find it, not buy it.... Now I wish I could convince the wife about that

This thread is great!! As challenge to myself, I'm building my trailer entirely out of salvaged, recycled and freebie parts. Anything I have to purchase I'm doing so by recycling metals and selling off unneeded things on craigslist.

My list of scrounged / salvaged items is... Oh hell damn near everything I own lol

Roller skate wheels for the rollers for the slide out, used 2x2 for the frame of the floor, Hell I even cut down 3 hardwood doors into strips to use in the glue laminate frames for the walls.

if it's free it's for me .
