Hello

Postby Country Gal » Sun Nov 09, 2008 7:57 pm

I just learned about this camping forum today from a friend. I am a tent camper looking for a "safe" way to camp. I live north of Atlanta. I am open to meeting you and hearing about your camping experiences and hopefully becoming a part of your future ones!
I am still a tent camper. I love to camp and simply don't have a group to camp with, being new to Georgia.....and have been warned about camping alone.

Way to go my friend!!!!!!!!! You are going to love this forum. There are several people here that are from your area!

I posted a thread earlier asking about people in your area! So come on everyone let's welcome my friend Betsey with a big group (((((HUG)))))!

She may be a tent camper now, but after a few outings I'm sure we can convince her she needs a little teardrop!

;)

Welcome, Country Gal!

Check out the Lady Teardroppers section of the forum. Many of us aspire to safer camping -- a big appeal for me of the teardrop over a tent.

Image to the playground Betsey. I am sure you are going to love this group. Do check out the Lady Teardroppers, the South East and South Central groups.

I can honestly say that in almost 3 years I have never heard of a women having a dangerous camping experience with our groups. Well unless you count thieving Raccoons.

Now dig out your camera cause you are gonna want to take some real fun pictures. ;)

Ok Country Gal, come on and join in on all of the fun. Now, next step.....either build, buy or restore a teardrop trailer of your choice. Many of us have been where you are, checked out a few real trailers and next thing you know, you've been bitten real bad by the TD bug.

I suggest you make it to one of the local gatherings in your area, look over the many styles of trailers and meet the greatest camping friends you could ever imagine. Glad you found us, who knows you might even decide to discard your tent for good.........like many of us have.

Good luck following your new-found interest. See you at a West Coast Gathering, when you decide to make a cross country trip with your teardrop.
Roly

Hi

Postby Kristi Foster » Fri Nov 14, 2008 2:48 pm

Hi Betsey,
Camping with a group, at a rally, sounds like a safer way to camp. Also, be aware of bears in the Georgia Mountains. A fellow camper's truck was run into by a bear this past weekend. My dog was very interested in sniffing around that truck! I would think you would feel much safer in a small camper with a locked door. Here is a picture of North Georgia Mountains Fair Campground a very nice place to camp. Image

Hate it when and animal runs into your truck, I know how that is, had an elk run into and old ford I had (1972) darn elk comitteded sucide. Hate it when that happens, But we had to eat him, couldn't let the meat go to waste. Darn elk...Jim G :(
