OK... Where those two hooks are?
Place your index and middle finger around those hooks, grasping the tool firmly with the hex head end facing away from you.
Place hex head end over the sprinkler valve and turn to your right.

  Comedian tonight are we???

Ahh but take another look at the hooks, one is flat like a screwdriver/pry bar the other would likely separate your finger joint if the valve was tight. It is flat in the wrong direction, kinda like a thin pick.
And the hex hole is nearly useless as it measures between 3/8 and 7/16 depending on which side you measure.

Care to give it another go?? 8) 8)

I honestly have no idea what it was for, I pulled it out of the ground where we were digging for something years ago.
It really reminds me of one of those promotional things like the paint can openers they used to give away. Except that this thing looks to have been used quite a bit by someone. The screwdriver on the end is well worn as is the pry bar looking part. And I can't find any sort of advertisement on it, only writing I can find is Made in England.
We may never know............. 8) 8)

You might just be right Dean....but then again.......

Maybe it was for throttling up a gas valve in a PA steel mill or used on an old steam locomotive by the boiler tender. :?

Looks like it might be some kind of old bicycle repair tool. I've seen something similar to the double curved pry tool end that was a seal removal tool for some type of transmission (if I remember correctly) but the hex/flat blade screwdriver end makes me think of maybe bicycle, with the pry end being used to remove tires. Interesting piece.

:o  Hey it's a pick for a really short coal miner.

Might be a tool used for upholstering or shoe making too.

You have no idea how many years I've had this thing and still have no idea what it is. It keeps getting stashed and one day it just turns up somewhere.
