Computer/Internet help please

Postby 48Rob » Tue Nov 11, 2008 7:41 am

Hi,

If anyone can guide me on the issues below, I would be most greatful!

I've saved some select posts containing pictures and text from my current MSN website to my computer as an MHTML document.

I've then saved them to a disc, and viewed them on another computer that is not connected to the Internet to make sure the photos stayed with the posts.
The photos, text, and Web page Background show up fine.

I then install the disc back in my computer, and transfer the files, one at a time, one per post, to my Yuku board.

Some of the posts show up fine, with photos and background intact.
Others show the photos and background in the "preview" mode, but dissapear when I push the post button.
(The post appears, just minus photos and background).

Any thoughts?

So there is no misunderstanding, all the above actions are legitimate.
I own both sites, and the rights to all the material on them.
Nothing improper going on, just trying to save some valuable information from dissapearing when MSN deletes all their Web sites.

Rob, you may have to put the pics in the same directory as your HTML and make sure all the tags point to the proper location of the files.

Thanks Jim,

That may well work, but becomes much too complicated and time consuming.
I have a hundred or so posts I need to save...

Was hoping to just save each page as a file, then load the files in as a new post on the new board.

Rod - Years ago I did something like what you are trying. I found some free software on the web that would download webpages and change the links to all the photos so I could save them all in one folder. A quick google search using "web page downloader" turned up some that might work.
