Fender Source

Anything to do with mechanical, construction etc

Grant - I'm not 'married' to those exact fenders - We just like that retro look. Care to guess which ones you have that are similar to the ones in the above pics. The TD we are going to build will be a 4 X 8, on a Tractor Supply trailer, so I'm not sure what size fender will look the best, scale wise. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Well, a lot depends on what wheels & tires you will be running ... and whether or not you will be extending your walls down over and/or past the frame rails ...

The fenders that I have that are closest to the overall look of those '37 Chevy pickups are my Deluxe and DeluxePlus, but at 42" long, 19" high and 9-3/4" wide, they are sized more for 13" and 14" wheel/tire combos (and might possibly be more proportional to your 4x8 platform). The KIT-style fenders are "fatter" & rounder, and more in line with late '40s styling, and are meant for 14" & 15" wheel/tire combos. But, if you are going to run with the 12" wheel/tires that are most common with HF, TSC, and Red Trailer type chassis, the only thing I can offer (for now) are the Young Tears fenders.

I don't recall if the Tractor Supply trailers are available with dropped axles, but if they are, that option will go a long way toward achieving the look & style of the RollinOak Teardrop!

If you've got further questions about my fenders (or anything else I offer/carry), it might be better if you e-mail me directly at [email protected] ... that way this thread won't seem like it's turning into a commercial for Li'l Bear ... ;) ...!

As always, then ...

CHEERS!
