Eddie, So, who inspired you the most for that profile? Was it SonetPro? He was one of mine too if it was.

Sparksalot, where did you ever get that name anyway? And for your sides, is that plywood, or ?

I caught the teardrop bug in May of 08 while looking for a small trailer to pull behind my 53 F100. Started out with a pop-up trailer frame and built a 5 X 11. The original plan was to have it "campable" by 10/18 for a car show at Wilburton OK. Then I found this site. With the help from all of the fine folks here, I was able to get our trailer "campable" for our desired date and then on to the LCGIII. We have been camping and RVing for many years and haven't met a finer bunch of folks than can be found camping in teardrop trailers
While I still have to complete the galley and add a pair of fenders, we had a ball camping in our TD.

DBizer, What did you use for the exterior? I noticed the vertical grain in the wood. You have a beautiful Teardrop.

mechmagcn, love your truck. I have a 56 F100 I would love to restore some day. It is not driveable at the present time. What engine and transmission do you have?

Too bad you can't see the grill in the pic!!! Then you would know it's running a Mercedes power plant!! I camped next to them at LCG.

Yeah Steve's FishINN was a lot of the inspiration for my trailer.. and to answer your second question... No I'm not planning on building another.. I may help someone build one for themselves but, as for me building another I just don't see it in the cards

You mean there's a choice after the first one?? #2 is started (just frame prep right now) and #3 is on the drawing board (an ultralight, trying to find the right axle at a decent price). Also picked up a HF mini at a yard sale over the weekend and looking at doing a tear shaped baggage hauler.

I want to be part of the 2008 club, but I know it is not going to happen.

For posterity, in Late Oct 07, I posted to my own board about some make your own cab over camper plans, that I was thinking about doing since I wanted what the teardrop offered but never saw one before. A board member replied with a link to Grant's teardrop plans and I spent the entire day in teardrop land and decided to ditch the cab over idea, and then I discovered this board and started my new life...



Right around my birthday Jan 21st I started my plans and decided on the Modernaire profile.

Feb 1st I bought the steel for the frame.

March 1st I transformed my garage into a workshop.

March 15th 2008 was the date the "build" began with welding up the frame, so I guess I have four more months to still be under a year for the build. We will see how it goes!

Anyway, thanks for letting me ramble! I didn't vote since I haven't completed the build yet.
