Still Kicking .. different direction

After a long delay because of medical reasons I am now working again on my camper. During my delay I destroyed the tear creation and headed in the direction of a "weekender." I have added some pictures in my gallery of the new trailer. I am having a little problem finding what I envision for an air inlet vent. I am trying to figure out how the fantastic fan in an exhaust mode can move outside air across me when I'm laying down. The door windows will have air drawn inside but I'm afraid it will pass above on its way out the exhaust fan. I guess I"m looking for a couple of small vents that can be opened or closed from the inside depending on the weather.



I would install them on the lower angle of the trailer about head high when lying down. I do have a recycled rv 17x35 crank open window I could install on the front vertical section but would like to explore the vent idea further.

Hey Zap,

If I understand you correctly, you are looking to have air blow across your face while you are asleep?

On page 11 of the Midget plans... (up there in the Vintage plans section) it shows air being drawn across the top of the bed.

If you can't come up with a scheme that uses the roof vent, maybe a side wall vent might do it.

I'd be interested to hear what you come up with.

...glad to see ya back...think curtains...curtains(especially solid ones) closed across the window will help funnel air down and over you...or put the fan in reverse and use it like a ceiling fan.................

Thank you Mike and Madjack for the response to my dilemma. The idea you presented Mike is exactly the effect I am looking to achieve. The vents I have found so far meet some of the requirements but not others. I may have to fall back to the proven way Madjack suggests but until I reach crunch time I guess I'll keep toying with my idea.

Have you considered using computer fans and marine vents? Might give you the air flow you need.

I was thinking a marine vent also. Then rig up some way to open and close it, like a car vent.

I know panel vans have a vent by the driver's foot that will open either forward or backward.

I have been looking at a couple of marine vents which show promise. A clam shell style allows for a 3 1/2" flexible tube attachment which I could then route where I need the air flow. As suggested I will have to devise some method to restrict the air flow when not needed. I must not forget to screen the opening to prevent those pesky mosquitoes here in Florida from finding me at night.

Ok Mike, I was looking in the Austin Hardware catalog and found a couple of vents which may work for what I'm trying to accomplish. Pictures are nice but they don't tell the whole story so I ordered one of the least expensive ones to test. I'll keep you updated as to the progress along with some pictures when it's delivered.
