We are digging out of the Snow

Postby Classic Finn » Mon Nov 24, 2008 6:18 pm

Well were digging out of the snowstorm that hit us late last night and today. Here is the story in English from our main Newspaper. Everything was jammed up. Airports, Harbors, Buses and Routes and even us. But were ok. I love the snow..

There's nothing like downtown Nürnberg at Christmas!

Hope you warm up!

Hi Sherrie

We have the Christmas Street opened up here in Helsinki. Which has Xmas lights and things the entire street. Plus in about a week there is a winter carnival and fair outside with all kinds of foods and handcraft and what not to celebrate winter and of course Xmas.

You can still get Nürnberger lebkuchen cookies, right?

Here,s a photo I went and took from our entryway a few minutes ago and time here is 02:21 Tuesday Early Morn. It sure is a nice feeling with freshly fallen snow even though the storm is now past us that complicated movement thru the entire country.. Whats weird is that the Weater Station mentioned that their was lightning as well which Ive never heard of in winter.

We are still getting snow at this minute.

Mike is it true that you can get up to a 1/2 meter of snow in one night there where you live?

Not sure about where Mike lives; but it is not impossible to get that much snow any where around the Great Lakes area. The one that stands out in recent memory for me was Christmas Eve about 6 years ago. It started snowing heavily about 11AM Christmas Eve and by the time it stopped around 4PM Christmas Day, just over 74" ( a touch over 2 metres) had come down. I lived in western new York at the time; not here in Mississippi.

My friend in Nuernberg sends them every year. I miss the Glühwein more! We used to get it all the time when we went to the market.

If you've never been, take this fabulous tour (it's a 360 virtual):

We get no snow here!
Ich würde lieben, in Deutschland für Weihnachten zu sein!

Sherrie

Sherri that is nice.. thanks for sharing that. Thats what weve got here in Finland also. I do like the ones in Germany better though. For me its just so much different. They have tours to Germany from here just for the occasion as well.

I normally go there to by the Golden Bars of Marzipan which is soo good as well as all kinds of different breads and goodies.

So Ive heard from my cousins too that live in Manitoba Canada that they can easily get that much. Thats a lot of snow at one time and also with the wind chill factor it can get very cold as here.
