Enjoy everyone.

If these dishes are spelled wrong I mean no disrespect. Im just stupid. Lol

I'm half Chec!! The other half is Polish. I'm sure it's the same thing; but we call them Gowabkis.

If you like that. you should try kapusta.... sauteed sauerkraut with brown sugar and onion!!

Zien dobre panu, Polski obiet jest bardzo dobre. Kapusta albo nowy kielbasa smackuje 8) 8)

Boy do I know the great Polish foods. Go there every year almost. Come back weighing a few extra kilos too after the vacation

I speak polish as well. My oldest son speaks it fluently..

Classic Finn ;) :)

My Polish isn't that great... being third generation immigrant to US..... ; so I'm having some difficulty translating. But overall; I have to agree with the enthusiasm for Polish foods (even if they are not diet friendly).

As far as keilbasa, I prefer the fresh to the smoked; but that's a personal preference. Whenever I go back to visit my Dad in western New York, I usually end up sending 6 or 7 pounds (3kgs) back in my luggage. That should send the "drug" dogs into a frenzy!!!

I have a lot of recipes from my Grandmother (even if all the amounts of ingredients aren't in logical measurements) that I am willing to share.

We are going to roast a couple ducks...

Other than that, it's the usual,

pototo casserole
veggies
stuffing
gravy
yams
red wine

Let me see if I can find a duck from years past...

Mike...

edit: here's duck!!!

I'm going to my brother and SIL's, and was asked to bring a dessert--so I went traditional and was planning on making a coconut cream pie. Except that a mom of a co-worker makes and sells pies for T-day, and her coconut cream pie (which was great) was less to buy than it would have been to make. So I cheaped out and bought my contribution to Thanksgiving dinner.

At home, since my tastebuds aren't yet fully up to speed, I'm going low and slow for my own dinner--oyster stew, from scratch, my grandfather's recipe.

However, the last time I brought an entree to T-day dinner, I went back into my Native American Cookbook, and made a chile and cinnamon-roasted pumpkin stuffed with apples, walnuts and mushrooms, and served with a butter-chile bechamel sauce. And while I know I couldn't really taste that right now, it sounds really good as I type it out. It would work perfectly in a dutch oven, too.

Mike, that Duck looks Yummy!!!! My Brother-in-law hunts duck in LA and at Christmas he always brings a smoked one. Oh gosh, they are so good.

We are marinating our 11 lbs Turkey in a brine solution.
1 Gal of water
1 cup of salt
1 cup of sugar

It will sit in that all night and we will throw it in the over around 10am.

I will be making a Sweet Potato Casserole from one of the best cook books, EVER. Its the Cotton Country Collection, from the Jr League of Monroe Parish LA. You cant beat good old southern recipes.

Linky Check out the reviews.

This whole thread is making me hungry. I skipped dinner tonight so I would be prepared for tomorrow. :)

Well there should be

20+lb. Turkey and stuffing
15lb. Ham
Mashed potatoes and gravy
potato salad
macaroni salad
scalloped potatoes
corn
green beans
sweet potatoes
salad
cranberry sauce
deviled eggs
rolls and butter
apple pie
pumpkin pie
cookies
And probably some other stuff I'm not aware of yet.

Kate made her green bean casserole which varies a bit from the traditional in that it contains cheese, lemon, white wine & garlic. But it MUST have French's fried onions on the top!

I made shrimp cocktail dip - Neufchatel cheese, shrimp & my own homemade cocktail sauce.
