My galley lights and porch lights are inexpensive ones from Arcon. They come with or without a built-in switch. I used switched ones in the galley, and for the porch lights installed switches inside the cabin near the doors on each side. There is also one of these as a utility light in my trailer tongue box/electrical compartment, with a separate toggle switch to turn it on & off.

The photo below shows the porch light installation just aft of the cabin doors on each side. I like the downward angle as it is not so much shinning in our eyes. The # 1003 12V bulbs use .93 amps each so we pretty much just turn them on when needed if no A/C power.



The next photo shows the same light in the galley. There is one on each side. On these there is a switch in the bottom of the housing.

Whilst looking for suitable lights for the teardrop, I came across some navigation lights that were made for aircraft.They have been in storage for a while.
I bought four of them, for about £30. They were all in sealed boxes , and labeled

I opened the box to find packaging like I haven't seen for many years. How many layers of cardboard do you need inside the box

On removing the protective nest of shreeded paper, I found a sealed bag with a lable tucked inside.

Reading the lable in the bag, I realised these lights had not seen the light of day for fourty five years. That makes them a year older than me, and yet they are brand new;

I was so excited, the smell of waxed paper and all.......

I've used two of the four on Thypod, and will use the other on the next build, or maybe the one after that.............



I'm very pleased with them They take standard 12v bulbs. I fitted a low watt bulb , and they've worked out great.

I guess I have different needs for an outside light , I want it pretty bright and to show a pretty good area around the trailer.
I do a lot of hunting in south Texas and they have a bunch of them ole rattlers down there, so I want to be able to see the ground well at night.
I will also rig the trailer we are building like my last full size trailer.
Took a heavy tarp cut a four foot section that hangs to the ground below the door and extends on both sides of the door ,it gives a lot of protection if you have visitors under your trailer.

Here is we used - mounted under the doors, it shines down on the ground below the door. Works great. 12 volt landscaping light.

I posted my led strip lights earlier but here they are mounted, you can just see them sunk into a slot in the diamond plate below the door. They light up the area around the door really well and not being at eye level they don't ruin your night vision too much. They also light up the interior of the TD enough to grab stuff or see the main light switches etc. Being strip LEDs they also don't stick out and are well protected.

Sure, they are fully sealed and waterproof so can go pretty much anywhere, they will even mount on a curve if you need to.
