I just glued two pc's of wood together I also plan to screw them together as well being in a high stress place.

Used Garila Glue .... can I screw them down now or should I let the glue cure more before putting in the screws?

Screw them now, before you take the clamps off. Gorilla glue needs the pressure of the clamps to set.

Once the glue cures, the only thing the fasteners are doing is waiting for a sharp drill bit, saw blade or other tool to snag and dull. Alnmost all of todays glues are stronger than the wood that they are used on. Properly fitted joints will almost always fail in the wood rather than in the joint.

interesting as I always say .... I love to learn new things.

This is going on the base now attached it is a 2x4 frame that will support the body weight as it is slid in and out of a pickup truck and later a trailer.
I did not have my wife or neighbor help me so I may have not got the glue over a wide area before clamping it so I feel better about the screws. If I had planed it better I would have hung the frame over the plywood sheet spred the glue and then dropped it on the glueing area. I used one of those fake credit cards they send in junk mail to spred it out. weting both sides first.

Don't worry Ron, screwing your joints, as well as gluing them, is okay. Yes, if you hit one of those darned things with a drill bit or saw blade it will damage the cutting edge....................but why in the world would you be drilling or sawing a joint after you put a screw in it anyway? Screws just let you use your clamps elsewhere while the glue sets up.
