What to do with flalling apart motorhome?

Postby Aaron Coffee » Tue Dec 02, 2008 7:03 pm

Fews years ago, I bought a 78 Dodge Motorhome, on the way home after the first trip the rear frame broke(behind the suspension)taking the bathroom floor down with it. Cut the old frame off(c-channel)and got the floor back up. Bought c-channel to fix frame, but never got around to it. Now I see the back wall is falling apart. I was thinking of cutting the bathroom off, using c-chanel to build a rear deck and putting a door to the deck. Thoughts, ideas?
If I could shut my brain off, I could save myself alot of time, money and effort.

build the bathroom on the deck

put a shower head, a sink and a full up RV commode in plain sight on the deck, use a long brass or copper pipe to hang a shower curtain around it when needed...talk about a conversation starter!...can't you just hear the comments being made as faster traffic overtakes and passes?
Keep thinking outside the box and all manner of ideas will become reality......

explosives! - no wait that really over kill. However, the deck idea seems plausable and do able 9 but not quite as colorful as the explosive would be  )

 If the drive train is good and the rest not falling apart then rebuild it. Sounds like maybe it was in an accident at some point.

Oh and then sell it to make more teardrops.

I was actually thinking along the lines of putting a shower on the deck(with curtain of course), and just a porta pot(that way I could do way with the black water tank).
The Dodges had c-channel after the van frame and only had 4 spots of 1 inch weld. This one had about a 3 foot length added to the back, made out of 4 and 6 inch c-channel, and at one point towed a trailer, so it was just the weight that caused it to brake. I am planning on boxing the c-channel and sliding it into the van frame, so I can bolt it and weld it. Had thought of pulling the 440 out and putting it into my Dart, but decided to rebuild the 273 in the Dart instead.
If I could shut my brain off, I could save myself alot of time, money and effort.
