This is such a cool thread ...!

Can I play? At the rate I'm finishing trailers, some of you guys are just blazing!

Here is a sneak peak at one that should be campable by Christmas ... not done, but if she's a mind to go camping, it'll be ready:



It's a 4' wide Campster10, and I just got it back from the paint shop today. Still need to put the roof edge molding on the hatch lid, install the roof vent, install the cabin lights, put in an under-floor battery box & battery, finish the wiring, put the slides on the ice box tray, and then the seals 'round the doors & hatch lid and a few little details. It'll also get a sculpted silver bra on the front (like on the Campster8 I did a few years ago), and sculpted silver bras on the fenders. Finally, it'll get a tee-pee styled side tent that will go on either side (the owner is Native American).

You don't want to know how long I've been working on this one ... ... but it's a pretty special trailer for a pretty special person, and suffice it to say, it'll go down on record as being the longest build I've ever done ... ...

I'll post a bunch more pics when she's finally finished.

We finished a couple of woodies in August after starting in October of '07. Over that time and leading to the present our wives have made a considerable transition. They started out being understanding and casually supportive. Now they are full-on true believers. We're still getting out during these chilly, light-challenged days, but we're also having fun putting together plans for next summer.

The name is a combination of history, nautical and nerdy.

The Road House complete except for the rear lights (wiring done, just not mounted) which are still sitting in the living room. Built in about 3 weeks. It got really cold here about the time we finished so she's yet to make the maiden voyage.

Grant: so nice, I'm sure that unidentified person will know how much work you put into it, Get r done I love red, now you are making me think I should have painted mine. You sure have built some great examples of teardrops for all of us to ponder over. thanks for adding to the thread

That's the way I am counting things. 18 months of surfing, materials purchased in November, and build started in December. So, by our rules, I am in month #1 of the build.

My good friend Kurt Bowden rolled this little beauty out on Dec. 13 after 8 months and over 400 hours! There are some really slick features hidden under that polished aluminum skin, but you'll probably have to wait to see them for your selves (or 'til he post some pics of 'em all). I forgot to take my camera to the unveiling, and had to snip this pic from their Christmas E-card ... ...



He and his wife Shannon and chocolate lab Jack live up near Lakehead, CA, but there's a pretty decent chance some of you folks east of here might catch a glimpse of them, as they plan on doing some extensive touring with it this spring ... towing it behind their red & white Mini Cooper S. I'm pretty sure they'll have it at the 16th Dam Gathering, too ... ...!
