Mark - you said that's rolled, and not sprayed? Wow! very nice! Mind if I ask what paint and roller brand you used? I'm looking to roll my roof but was concerned on the quality. Looks like you solved that problem.

I decided to roll instead of spray because I have never sprayed before. After reading about the learning curve with spraying I decided to roll. I didn't have a decent place to put up a paint room either. And then I came across an article where a guy painted his Corvair with Rustoleum paint and foam rollers for $50. (Link) That convinced me to roll my teardrop. I used Valspar Supreme Acrylic Enamel for the paint. I wanted to match the color of my trailer and that is the paint they used. I used 3 coats of primer and 5 coats of the top coat. After mixing in the hardener I reduced the enamel about 33% (recommended was 20-25%). This made the paint a little thinner and made it flow better. I used 1/8" nap foam rollers to apply the paint. I also used a 2" foam trim roller for the edges. I got the 1/8" nap foam rollers from West Marine and Jamestown Distributors. Jamestown has the cheaper prices, $4.47 for a pack of 2. (Link) Close up you can tell it is rolled but I think it still looks good. I haven't polished and waxed it yet so I anticipate it looking even better. (on the picture below the door has been wet sanded and waiting for the final topcoat, that is why it looks hazy)

Thanks Mark for those details on the paint technique. Very helpful, and I think I'l do exactly that for my roof. (The aluminum approach started to scare me and I was really looking to paint in the first place.)

From a minimalist point of view (er,engineering economy) 2 is my preference. This is above and beyond my weight consideration.

Yep! I beleive yours and Planovet's would have to pass as Red. In fact, some people would almost call yours Orange-Red! How did you paint yours and what brand of paint?

Thank you. I bought the hinges at http://mooreindhardware.com/. But I just went and tried to look them up but they are not in the catalog anymore. They have have stopped stocking them. The part numbers were 7-4131-L-CH and 7-4132-R-CH.

I'm leaning towards using 3. I'll put them on once the garage heats up a little (its in the 20's today).

Here is some different hinges from McMaster I found while looking for my current ones. Sparksalot got some for his tear and likes them a lot. Price is right too.
