Postby Keith » Thu Dec 11, 2008 8:55 pm

Grant,

Do you have the new rules for the Teardrop Derby made up yet? Some of us are trying to plan ahead.

That's not me, Keith ... we'll just be hosting the track at the 16th Dam Gathering.

Lee Bryant and Doug Hodder are the rule makers ... ;)
(yeah ... I'd kind of like to know, too! You know, in case I get my lanterns done and have some spare time on my hands, I'd like to build a racer as well ... :? ...!).

CHEERS!

I'll have a talk with Lee and see what we want to do if any rule changes. Probably nothing drastic...just if you ran it in 08 it can't in 09. Doug

:D  Oh well it didn't win anyway. :( You ought to just tell that Beep Beep to slow down.  And leave Barbie home where she belongs. Isn't she a bit old for this sort of thing. ;)

2009 Teardrop Derby Rules

Postby Lazybones » Sat Dec 13, 2008 2:30 am

OK. Doug and I just talked and Here are the rules for the 2009 Teardrop Derby Season. Basically the same as last year, but; with a few clarifications.

1: Must have THREE WHEELS

2: Single Tongue wheel must go down first

3: MAX width 4 INCHES MAX length 8 INCHES.
Must fit in a 4 INCH by 8 INCH box (same one as 2008 season)

4: Max weight 16 OUNCES ( all will be weighed on the official scale)

5: Must move with gravity alone. NO rockets, rubber bands, ect...

6: (Now for the clarifications part) there are

NO 2008 trailers can be run in 2009. We feel the fun part is being
creative and building.

NO WHEELS IE (anything that rolls) ALOWED ON THE SIDES FOR
GUIDES

YOU CAN HAVE FIXED "BUMPERS or SKIDS"

7: Last but not least. If you have any questions; please don't email
anyone. Just go back to the top and read the rules. They are very
simple and this is JUST FOR FUN.

I look forward to seeing what everyone comes up with!! This is such a fun and imaginative group I know the trailers will be awsome.

:applause: Great set of rules! And I am glad last years winner is still in.

So WHERE----WHEN---MAILING ADDRESS.

I have two cars trying to go down but this was fun last year and I have lots of materials left.

Miriam....Beep Beep wasn't out...just his trailer. This way, no one can fine tune something that they had in 08. We are all on the same playing field for 09. People that weren't there or entered in the 08 races, and those that were, everyone starts over. You can rob the wheels or any other parts, if you were happy with how it ran, but it's got to be a different trailer. Doug

Thanks for the rules clarfications guys, will have to put on the thinking cap for improvements for the 2009 racer. I had heard that one of the rules you were considering was that each trailer had to safely carry an unbroken egg across the finish line, glad that one didn't make it past the rules committee. Of course my plan on that one was to build a Barbie racer, but I'd have her carry two eggs :)

Build now for the upcoming season. OK? Doesn't take much....it's all in fun! See you in the pits, must be that NASCAR thing that got to me....... Doug

I just want to see how many are bringing a racer to the Dam Gathering?

If there isn't much interest; I don't want to haul the track and set it up.

I hope you will build a racer as it's a lot of fun and doesn't take much time to build.

The rate of fun returned on your time is estimated at 200 to 1000% :D

Much better then sitting on the couch and watching TV. Or your money in the bank.

Did you make the track longer like you were thinking of? Or add a loop or some banked curves ? :)

No; the track is still the same. i haven't had any time to play with it.
It's Probably not a smooth as it was because it's been out side under a tarp.
