I Have a couple big chunks of scrap I had left over. I will bring it to the shivaree. How big a piece you need for your experiment.

Not real big 1'x1' maybe, if it's bigger that's fine. Little smaller that's fine also.

Wandering around on Weather.com and tripped over a few facts.........

Record hi for January 17th in Anderson was 67

Their record low was -18

forcasted for our Shivaree is rather generic looking
32 for a high and 18 for a low.

Dare we hope
That would beat the heck out of last year

Funniest moment last year was when Vickie took a drink of her too long ignored cup of coffee and the frozen coffee chunk hit her in the nose.

It miss it by 15 degrees. Record low for Nashville, IN on January tenth was -16 doesn't tell what year though.

Ok, so what are we thinking for food. I'm thinking a big pot of Chili

Maybe Scotch Eggs that would help heat the campers

Talked with Jeff ( Nitros junkie) last night. He is getting a big Turkey for Christmas and no freezer to store it so I volunteered ours with the understanding it will become turkey and drop dumplins for the Shivaree.
God love Vic that girl can make killer drop dumplins .

Soups and stews we learned last year stay warm almost long enough to be enjoyed, but you better eat fast or it's cold as a stone

If she is able to come we will do a big monster skillet of sausage gravy and hot biscuits in the D.O for the AM breakfast. We are better prepared and will not run off on ya this year


She has some nasty dental surgery scheduled for the 14th so she may not make it. ( to the outing not thru the surgery )

You do not want MY gravy unless you are putting up wallpaper. I will get her to instruct me on the drop dumplins those are still ON either way.

I can make fairly decent sausage gravy if someone else can handle the biscuits.

For dinner soups or stews that can be held in a crock pot should work well. I have a recipe for a sausage gumbo that is delicious. I haven't made it yet but Kurt is an expert.

I could bring a batch down for a Saturday meal. It will provide "some" warmth for the Shiveree.

Jim I'll cover ya on the biscuits will bring the big dutch oven and try a batch of biggin's

and bring a toster oven with ready made biscuits for backup "just in case"

I can make Caribbean Red Beans & Rice to celibrate the warm tropical breezes we will enjoy while in Anderson.

We can work it out when we get closer and know how many will be there for sure.

Sounds like a plan. The DO always works for Cindi but she has declined my invitation to camp that weekend, making some reference to my mental state and ability to make rational decisions. Anyway if nothing else the toaster oven can be used to keep the biscuits warm.

Hi All, Jan and I are still looking forward to coming. All the food sounds great, but I have a question about fire wood. How do you bring it with the banned on? I have a source for palets that I cut up to take camping here. But the little truck will not haul to much that far. I will stil try to bring as much as I can. Erv

What ever you bring is fine, I'll put what I can get in my van. We all tend to end up around one fire. Last year between all of us we had plenty.
This year I can get a bunch of oak scrap from work that burns real hot.
Just don't anyone cringe when I start burning it cause it's pretty nice red oak but I can get a giant bin full for $5
