Internet Explorer Security Issues

Postby Classic Finn » Tue Dec 16, 2008 8:28 am

Here in the news there is a big write up on the recent Internet Explorer
security issues where it states to raise the levels of security on computers or even using other programs till its fixed.

First it seemed only to be on Explorer 7 however now its also a problem amongst the others as well.

Have any of you read this or heard of it and what have you done if so.

Should we change to Mozilla or any other and which do you recommend?

sort of worried.

Hi

I've been using Mozilla since it came out and find it's much smoother to use that IE (well version 6 anyway, I haven't used IE7 so can't speak to that). I'd certainly recommend Mozilla.

Cheers

Heikki,

I read about it on Yahoo! Seems if you stay away from websites that you are not familiar with it will be OK. But to really be safe just switch to Firefox 3.

Kerry can we still leave Internet Explorer on the computer without deleting it?

I will try the Firefox 3.

Will it help at all to set the security to High?

Sorry for the dumb question but Im no expert at this at all.

Yes, you can leave IE on you PC but setting the secutty to high most likely will NOT help in this case.

Use Firefox until Microshaft comes out with a security fix for the problem with IE

Who knows, you may like Firefox better and never switch back!!

Heikki, Mozilla is the parent company of FireFox...while Mozilla puts out a full suite browser/email/ect client, FireFox is what you want...get it and use it for a while and you will not go back to IE...you really can't delete IE, since it is a integral part of your Windows operating system.......

Mozilla is the brand name (ie Microsoft) Firefox is the application name (ie Internet Explorer). Thunderbird is the Mozilla e-mail application (in place of Outlook). I've been using them both for years.

The only problem I have with Firefox right now is that the most recent upgrade doesn't support the latest Adobe Flash Player, so on some web-sites I still have to use Internet Explorer. Now if somebody can tell me how to get around that issue, life would be all better again.

OOOPS.... I type too slow. MJ beat me to the answer.
