I think she is snowed in. No travel advised in the entire state and our part of Minn. Dakotamouse's area was really buried. We had 6" of snow and 40-50 MPH winds and below zero temps. I don't think we will be out tomorrow unless the winds die down. :snowstorm: :snowstorm:

So I get to blow snow with my tractor. Might as well make the best of it.

I see vikings headed over to the buffalo. No wait a minute, its Tatanka and Chief sitting bull. ;)

It would be nice to commute there. Here its the same up North. Just herds of reindeer wondering about. And a few Moose here and there. And they are in no hurry to move, even if a car does come.

Yup, it's been a tough weekend for weather. We got 11 inches of snow since Friday night with wind gusts up to 40 mph. I think the temp is going to be around -19 tonight. I got all my Christmas shopping done Friday night. Then spent the weekend wrapping presents, paying bills and cleaning house.

When the weather breaks I hope to get some xcountry skiing in on that new snow.

My biggest concern is whether the parking lot will be plowed at work tomorrow. :)

This winter is starting to look more like the winters of my youth. The last 5-10 have been really mild.........realitively speaking.

So far I'm not minding it. You adapt. Dress warm and keep your vehicle maintained. We also make use of head bolt heaters for easier starting car engines.

20 years ago my husband had to spend some time in Washington, DC. Many people asked him if our car was an "electric car" cause it had an electrical cord coming out from under the hood.

I live on the North Dakota/ Minnesota border and love the Ely area. We are in the North West corner of MN. I have been canoeing there many times. I was watching what Dakotamouse was getting cause we get the same a few hours later. Not as much snow as Central North Dakota. We had 7" with the big wind. -18° now going to -28° by the AM.

We are the winners for snow in ND, we topped out at 12 inches. The parking lot wasn't too bad at work this morning. But I did get stuck in the driveway. Luckily two of the guys saw me and gave my car a little shove and I was free. Looks like we are going to have at least a week of subzero weather.

Reminds me of one Christmas about 20 years ago. We gathered up all of our presents into a rubbermaid laundry basket to take over to my husbands moms. We drove over, took the basket out of the car, ran up one flight of stairs and as we went up the handle snapped off from the cold. It had frozen rock hard in less than a minute!

I heard that there was only a barbed wire fence that seperates North and South Dakota?? I hope to see for myself someday. 8)

What fence? The only way you'd know you crossed the border was by the big sign that says "Welcome to North Dakota" and the improved quality of the roads!

I've always thought I'd like to host a teardrop gathering in Medora, ND. There everyone could see the rugged beauty of the badlands, tour Theodore Roosevelt park and take in the Medora Musical. But I'm not sure where to begin to organize such a thing!

Looks like a great place to practice "Car Surfing"!
Still graced with two eyes and ten fingers (due in no small part to luck!).

Just when you think a problem is solved, an uglier result replaces it.

If you like parody songs by the likes of Weird Al you should check out a local Nordacoda boy, Mylo Hutzenbuler.

He is billed as the Strasburg Superstar. Remember the accent in the movie Fargo? Honestly that was Minnesota speak not Nordacoda. They are more Swedish and Norwegin influenced, not that we don't have that here too, but we have more of a German background. Mylo parodies involve life on the farm and life in North Dakota. He has a new CD called "A Very Mylo Christmas".

My favorite song on the CD is a parody of "Livin La Vida Loca" called "Livin in Nordacoda". It talks about all the "JOYS" of cold weather living. There is a clip on his site but it is very small.

If you can spare a buck through Paypal for the download I think it is well worth it. Especially if you're putting up with the cold like we are up here in Nordacoda!:snow
