Here's the build thread.........

I've been slacking on the pics for quite awhile. I was cramming (as usual) to make a gathering with a campable unit so the pictures went by the wayside. After Christmas, I'll start in again and get some more pics in the thread. Keep on keepin' on, brother. Your Puffin 1.0 was the inspiration for our Widget build......

Cool - I'd seen that thread, but was hoping to find some more pics. I was surprised to see it at the Louisiana trip because I thought you were at a stand still with it. Nice to see it rolling.

Gonna hafta get Anna acquainted with that camera for those "waiting for the glue to dry" moments. That should take care of the boredom.

The first of the parts started arriving today. I got the boat moved from the garage today to a friends place. I'm hoping to get the trailer/wood Friday so I can start building this weekend.

Glass bubbles, wood flour, marine paint, and 3 gallons of epoxy in the garage now.

Glass bubbles? Are you building a rocket?

I think the rocket has already been done. ;)

After sanding wood flour and epoxy mixture I discovered the beauty of other fillers. I use the wood flour for the strong epoxy fillets, and I use the glass bubbles and epoxy for fairing.

I hate sanding.

Hate it.

HATE IT!

Alright, these "magic bubbles", I've got to see in a build......... I see they are used in explosives but have never heard of them. This will be a pretty neat tutorial....... did you use them in your boat build?

I don't think wood flour is very expensive, but I'm cheap. I collect the dust from the random orbit sander in a coffee can and use it with epoxy and wood glue to make a perfect match filler. It IS tougher to sand though than other fillers!

More stuff arrived last night.

Sanding longboard and 240' of sandpaper. 80 & 220 grit. I get the feeling I will hate this longboard shortly. ;)

I'm planning to pick up the wood and trailer today after work.

Got the wood and trailer after work. I'll remove the fenders and cut 16" from the rear of the trailer tomorrow. I'm also planning to start on the floor.

That is what I built on. I moved the axle Under the springs to raise the body of the teat up. I wanted mine high....Cant wait to see your new design finished.

Steve- I added a little to the door height on the clone I built by dropping the floor outside the frame rail. Makes a little step over to the main drop floor, but also added an interior step, no need to build and carry one for the height challenged camping buddies.Image
