Computer question

Postby fireaunt » Thu Dec 18, 2008 9:29 am

I want to build a web page for e-commerce. I have a macintosh and wonder if all of the templates work with a mac. I am looking at Yahoo/att, http://www.stirsite.com/host/page/243.htm http://www.onewebhosting.com/Plan_C_Hosting.php http://www.volusion.com/?gclid=CO6t4rGsypcCFQOcFQodh0Y3Rw .

I've got a domain name in mind but haven't registered it with any one yet.

I am not a computer genius so I am looking for an all in one sight. Any one had any experience with this?

I have three websites on Network Solutions. It's an "all-in-one" site when you can register your domain and build your own website. I pay about $150 a year per site.

Here is their website: Network Solutions

Here are a the websites I have with them:

Companion Animal Hospital

Little Swiss Teardrop

Swiss Society of Nashville

I was wondering why the water balloon was getting bigger... and then it hit me.

Meow, purrrrr, meow meow! translation: thank you very much!

I'll check them out.

Are the 3 sites considered one registration?

BTW, I like you cat exam room  I was wondering if on April 1st you sat on the table and the cat did the exam, hehe

They are all separate because they are all paid by different entities and have different features (ie number of pages, mailboxes etc.). I pay for our teardrop site, my business pays for the clinc one and the Swiss Society pays for theirs. I'm just the common webmaster. After doing it for several years I've gotten to know the program pretty well. It's user friendly and not that difficult to figure out.

Yahoo

go daddy

I started with yahoo and ended up switching about 2 years ago.

They deleted the databases for my forum and set me back 2 - 3 weeks in posts. Back to my backed up copies. Without them it would have emptied my forums. They did it twice. Their answer... "sorry".

I transferred my two domains to go daddy 2 years ago and just recently got a notice from yahoo that I am late paying for the renewal on one of them and services will be terminated soon. (they no longer own them) I have tried 3 times to get in touch with them by phone. First time took an hour and 3 tries and ended up giving up cause I was out of time. (on lunch at work) 2nd time was yesterday and their call center was closed due to snow. 3rd time was today and i got an automated message telling me to go back to their site, sign in, and get a diff telephone number as this one is no longer in use.

Although their site builders are more user friendly, I would strongly warn against yahoo if its going to be anymore than just a personal web page. Others experiences may vary. I will never give yahoo another dime of my money.

Go daddy isn't good for all in one either. They dont have any site building tools. I dont use the page wizards at all so it works perfect for me. They do have good hosting tools and prices though.

I have been using HostExcellence for over 8 years. It costs me about $75 per year and I get unlimited mailboxs, unlimited websites and a lot of other goodies. Right now I have 5 sites, but I have had 10 in the past. I register my domain names with GoDaddy. If you want more info go here:

Here are my current web sites:
http://lshawco.com
http://biz5000.com
http://mysixkids.com
http://tallhat.net
http://thebizman.net

I maintain my sites using FrontPage software.
