Looking for a flintlock muzzleloader

Postby Nitetimes » Thu Dec 25, 2008 3:16 pm

I'm looking for an inexpensive left handed flintlock muzzle loader rifle.
Don't really care to buy a new one.
Must be left handed and flintlock, .50 cal is preferable.
Know anybody selling one?
In this area somewhere would be a plus.
Just thought I'd ask.

Thanks
Rich

Try these folks. Dixon gun works has been the best black powder shooting resource for this area since I can remember. They buy, sell and build all types of black powder guns. Been a long time since I have been there, but if anyone would have a used one, my bet would be on them. Not to far from you either.

Interesting place Russ but 300 miles each way is just a wee bit far methinks.
I'm on the other end of the state. 8)

I've got one we built but it's not left handed. Used it to hunt antelope in Idaho...good gun.

They are pretty easy to find right handed and I do shoot my Savage 30.06 bolt action left handed but shooting a flintlock wrong handed puts the flash pan right in your face..not a good thing!!
I can shoot right handed but I don't like to so I'd really like to pick up a lefty that someone is tired of. 8) ;)

Sorry Rich! For some reason I was thinking that Butler was just south of here closer to Philadelphia. Black powder arms are still mailable aren't they?
Maybe still an option from Dixon.
Nothing like having that deer in your sites and squeezing the trigger for that empty "click" which sounds like a hammer hittin an anvil in the woods eh?
Even the deer need to entertained occasionally

I've still got a couple of places around here to check but I do believe you can mail them still. Might just be an option.

Ain't that the truth, and what usually adds insult to injury is that they will stand there and look at you like you're nuts for a few seconds before waving goodbye.

Rich,

It's a percussion rather than flintlock but you might find it interesting.
