Edge seal under trim

Anyone sealed up their wood and aluminum edges with epoxy or other before installing trim? I had this aluminum tape laying around and thought I would use it on all my seams first, maybe as a final water barrier if it ever gets past the trim and silicone. It will be hid under the trim. I also thought about a thin coat of epoxy as an alternative.

I used 3M 5200 marine sealant. I'd think that what you are using would work fine and a lot easier, and no edge clean up afterwards. Doug

Hi Dan,

I sealed the edges of the cabin car with polyurethane, then 2 layers of metal tape, and then the wood trim with more polyurethane.


Never hurts to have mutiple barriers...
