folding bed idea

I have an idea for a folding bed for my next build. This could be done using two hinges. This would allow access to the dropped floor (not shown in the drawing) during the day, and a quick fold bed at night. This bed could be lowered while sitting on the main bed section, so no need to exit the camper, or stand to do it.

I like it, I like it! I also like Miriam's suggestion! It could come in real handy in bad weather.

I think having it raise/lower as well as fold is beyond my abilities.

Here's another idea also using a hinge. The rear of the main bed section could be hinged to the back of the camper, and then raised to become a settee.

Another hinge could be added for a table that would fold down from the raised bed section. Again, this could be converted quickly without having to move/shuffle cushions. Everything would stay in place.




During the day you'd have access to the dropped floor so you could stand before the counter and cook/work. At night the bed conversion would take no more than 5 seconds. With practice, maybe 4 seconds.

I don't have the ability to make those nifty little computer drarwings, but here's my version of a convertible dinette. The table is piano hinged once on the wall and once again about 12" (or whatever you want the height above bench to be) down the length. Simply fold the hinge up and supply a fixed leg to the outboard side.

This is a great idea! Maybe you can use the cushions for the back supports.
