Final kitchen design

Ok, I need the help of everyone with a tear here. First off, thanks for your help, it meens alot. Ok. In your kitchen would you rather have a cooler or a fridge? Secondly would you rather have a sink or a water jug? And third would you rather have a colman 2 burner cook top or a 3 burner drop in cook top? O yeah, does anyone here have a microwave and is it worth it? Thanks for all your info on this subject, bye

I went with everything removeable for ease of cleaning and flexibility. 5 gal water jug, small charcoal grill and 2 burner stove. If I don't ned it on a particular outing then it can stay at home. Also I have a utility trailer as opposed to a camper for tax and title purposes. Alan

It depends on if you want an RV or a tent.

If you want an RV then go with the refrigerator, a sink, a nice two burner stove, and boat lights.

If you want a tent then go with an extreme cooler, a plastic bucket, a coleman stove and a coleman lantern.

I think you can see the two extremes I am trying to illustrate...

So what is a teardrop? Is it more like an RV or is it more like a tent? YOUR answer to this question will dictate how your teardrop ends up looking.

I think many folks on this board will agree that a teardrop is more like a tent, and not even close to an RV. Given that many folks are happy to keep it simple and basic.

But in the end, the choice is ultimately yours!

We've had a pop-up trailer, with a four burner gas range console stored under the table, for the last ten+ years. I can remember using it about a half dozen times. We carry a microwave and Mr Coffee; they get used every day. As my wife says, "It's my vacation too!"

I agree with Alan. Ease of cleaning and portability.
Before buying any galley items, I tried to really research what I would want.
The Coleman Grill stove, with one burner and a grill is WONDERFUL. I haven't needed anything but one small pan on our trips. I've bought the griddle that goes with the stove too.
Grill for hotdogs/hamburgs/chicken, etc. Griddle for breakfast, sausage/eggs/etc.
Very easy to clean up and portable to bring in the house should the power go out.

Cooler - Coolers are easy to take out of the trailer and clean. We have ours set up where while I'm using it, I don't even need to take it out of the hatch. Just pull it out and open it. Also works great for a cooking area surface. Went with a larger one for longer trips.

Coffee - I HAVE to have my coffee. We travel with a small 4 cup electric drip for those times we're in a campground. Old type camp coffee pot for rustic camping.

Since we rustic camp alot, everything is 12 volt. But I bring along a LONG extension cord or two so we can plug the coffeepot or other items when we have the luxury of electricity!

3 gallon water container. 3 gallons seem to last us quite awhile and I can actually pick the container up and get it to the teardrop. Anything bigger and I couldn't lift it.

The main reason why I am building a teardrop trailer, is to have a grand outdoor kitchen. To me, that's what's so appealing about the teardrop. (Who wants to cook in a confined box?)
I would hope that you are also going to have a killer barbeque somewhere in the mix.

WOW, Thanks for all these answers so soon. My family has had a pop up, a large pull behind, a class a rv witch is a bus type, and an old fith wheel. In all we didnt use the kitchens very much due to we are always outdoors. I love the rv kitchens just not being inside. We are always at camps with water and electric hookups so I am going to put all of the gratest things in it so I can have my grate kitchen in the grate out doors.

We have spent a lot of time using and thinking about our modifications to make our galley the most useable.

We did the Koolatron thing last year and ended up abandoning that pretty quick since it drains the battery so fast and really doesn't cool very well (and is just WAY too small). Also we chose to carry the cooler in the tow vehicle rather than use up valueable space in the galley. Great for packing up food, draining and cleaning. We have used various Coleman stoves before, and ended up using the Coleman Grill stove which works great, pulls out nicely on a drawer and reduces the need for fry pan etc. Hard to beat that one! A microwave would REALLY suck your battery dry.

Mind you some of this may not apply if you always have electric hookup.

Remember.. K.I.S.S and you'll enjoy your teardrop experience that much more!

Oh... and like Alan says, everything removeable makes it east for cleaning.

My take on the kitchen is a three burner drop in just because I had one handy,,it tucks away on sliders under counter top,,sink,,takes up too much counter space ,,rubbermaid pan can sit anywhere if I need to wash up,,paper plates dont need washing,,cooler can go inside or in back of truck for travel,,real simple too,,

Maybe I should have sed this earlier that my tear is going to be 6'8 wide. I have enough room for all of these things I just want to see if they will be used enough to be baught and put in.

6ft wide? Thats HUGE!!! Better get that cooler in there, home theatre, sink, food cupboards etc. Talk about being spoiled!

I would add the surround sound system with the home theater system too! Heck, with a teardrop that wide, he could add a wet bar too!
