Complete entertainment package! Both of my tears have TV/DVD/CD set-ups. Is great to relax in bed and watch a good movie before turning in for the night!

It sounds silly, but I installed dual AA mag lights with little broom stick clamps - next to each door. That way, in the middle of the night, you don't have to scramble for the flashlight...it's sort of a camping light switch. I think its in my photo album...that and my tongue box and fold-up table....yeah, the fold-up table...that's a life saver. It allows one person to prep from the side, while the other's cooking..saves time on dishes too!

I definitely like my 5' wide, but wish I had gone to 10 feet long (120 inches) instead of 104.... that extra space would have given me at least a mini-galley....

And, I'm not sorry I did not put cabinets in.... might look better, but my 14 inch deep shelves are very nice... might hang some curtains, though...

Actually now that I have the mattress's covered and intalled in the new large teardrop I think the one thing I couldn't do without is the 67" WIDE BED! Just like at home! All you 4by8ers eat ur hearts out

That was a good question. Most ot the replies convinced me that I have thought of nearly everything. Mine will have a 60" wide bed (queen width, but full length), AC, sink w/tank and 12v pump, portipotti in the closet, roof vent with fan and tires (3 of them). I will have lots of storage under the bed/dinette and in the galley and closet. No cabinets in the latter, just shelves with plastic storage boxes and bungee cords to keep them in place. The galley will have the shelves behind doors for appearances. Two of the underbed storage compartments will each have two drawers. Two will have top access, and two will have outside side access and inside top access. I'll have a 12v TV and auto type stereo/CD/MP3, but haven't planned on a DVD. But, like most everyone else, I'll surely find that I left something important out for the next build.

I'm getting the bug, the itch, whatever.. or just in need of a vacation and can't afford much! But I've got a tear in my mind - not in my eye. I stumbled on this forum and you're right -- The one thing not to leave out is this great group of people --

I have been saving pictures, bookmarking pages, and now I think I will start a notebook, just to start listing, sketching etc... putting the dreaming on paper since the last couple of mornings I've woke up thinking about my own teardrop.. One that I could build with a little help. Not too fancy or heavy, so I can pull it with my Honda Accord.

One thing I am already certain of -- the color and a theme!!! Haha ...I am a gingerbread collector (no not just the cookies) everything from figurines to dishes to crafts... and now for a teardrop. I know right now I want mine Red , maybe tan on the wheel well covers. And on the personal tag will hopefully be BREDBOX and painted on the back end when traveling down the road a cute little gingerbread boy with "Run, run as fast as you can.. you can't catch me I'm the Gingerbread Man!"

Okay, I'll stop there... lots more I've thought of but I'll get the notes written down...

Better be prepared...If you get into this, soon, you won't just be waking up in the morning with ideas, you'll be waking up in the middle of the night with them. I know that I do. I'll wake up with a new solution to a problem. Sometimes, I even get up, fire up the PC and get it down so I won't forget. It can become an obsession according to my wife.

The biggest thing one needs to have in a Teardrop, beyond all the bells and whistles, is a really GOOD SENSE OF HUMOR. That way you go to bed at night as friends, and wake up in the morning as friends also. I don't care what other gadets you may have ( two doors helps also), a sense of humor is on the top of my list, without it everything else pales in comparisson once inside at night

We really like using a real mattress instead of a thin foam "camper" mattress. We wouldn't want to be without it! It's like sleeping in our bed at home, although the home one is a Queen size (60" wide) and the tear's is a double (54" wide). We each give up 3" of width. No big deal. I'm also glad I made a removeable door in the galley bulkhead to remove the mattress. It takes all of thirty seconds to lift out the little door and slide the mattress out!

Have to agree with that. I have 4" thick medium firm foam couch seat cushions that do double duty as the bed mattress, but I also have a 3" memory foam topper rolled up behind the couch that I unroll and put on top of the cushions to sleep on. It does sleep as comfortably as my bed at home. I've slept on 4" "mattresses" in a popup and they were not at all comfortable without an extra pad on them.
