I've been sitting here thinking about the tear I have yet to build ..............and already I'm thinking about another! I am really hooked on the shape and size of the Cub/Modernistic/Modernaire trailer. But it obviously has limitations. While at the Minden gathering, I was privilaged to have the opportunity to see a KampMaster. WOW! Solves most every problem I invision in a CMM. But I see one big problem with the KM. One of the reasons I've given up a tent and find myself lusting after tears is how foul tents smell after a trip.............and how they smell when you set them up to use the next time. It's the canvas (and even synthetics). It absorbs body odors at night................and I hate it. I like the low profile of the KM, so I'm not interested in building a Winter Warrior, but has anyone tried to figure out how to "hard side" a KM? I've studied it and can't seem to come up with any feasible way to accomplish it.

Okay, I couldn't sleep (I'm awake now) so now I'm back at the keyboard. So what's a Tourette?

Thanks, Will, but a Winter Warrior is way too tall for me. I prefer the lower lines of the KampMaster and the Cub.

Okay Dean, I Googled Tourette Trailer and found this site: http://www.nicksteardrop.com/photos.htm A Tourette only looks like a KampMaster. It doesn't offer the headroom and indoor kitchen/conveniences of a KampMaster. It's just a bigger teardrop.

I thought you liked those long low lines, but didn't like the tent walled features...
If it's headroom you're after, but still like the long and low look, why not build a pop-up teardrop?
That's what I originally set out to do, but after some time here and a heap of designs later... The bug finally took hold.

I think a popup, hardsided trailer would be too complicated for what I want. I like the idea of lifting that big hatch and having a full headroom area for cooking. Just don't like the tent part. I've been inside the Winter Warrior and thought it was a well thought out design. Just way too tall for my liking. I'm an artist by trade and I don't care for the lines. If I were to ever build something like the KampMaster, it would probably end up looking like a big Cub/Modernistic/Modernaire. I just think that is the classiest shape. (Don't mean to offend anyone, so I'll add.......It's just my personal opinion.)

Interesting... After 9+ months and countless designs I settled on a "Plump" Modernistic profile.

Plump? You mean like Charles and Linda's Black Teardrop? Wait a minute, theirs isn't a modernaire. By plump, do you mean 5' wide?

Then, I guess my design is too tall too. At my age, sleeping in a box or tent is out. I want to stand up and be in the bedroom all at the same time. I'd like it lower, and even started with a drop down floor, but all in all, by getting rid of the drop-down and lowering the entire chassis, it only raised it a couple of inches. A floor that drops down after setting up might be an answer, but not sure how to waterproof it and hold it up while traveling. And, I don't want to fool with a pop up that will add more weight and problems. Besides, I just want to be able to park and get in it. If it is raining, I don't want to have to set up anything.

I'm no artist, but I like the lines of my trailer design. I think it has a retro look.

Sometimes I pretend to be normal. But, that gets boring...so I go back to being me.

Dale,

I like the thought of standing up inside also. But I don't want to pull a trailer that tall. All I have to pull with is a '96 Honda Accord. I think you have a very nice design. It's just not my style. That's why God gave us all different color eyes, hair, and opinions. To each his own...........and neither is best for everyone.

Chris.
He didn't give them to us, but rather they're on loan, and some day he's gonna want them back.
