Just go to that post and hit the quote button in the corner. Then the posting screen will show up with the quote already in the input box. You just delete out the stuff you don't want, just make sure you leave the [/quote] at the end.

A little advise and information from one who got a deal on a vent,, All vents and fans are not made equal,, the less costely ones move some air but are a bit noiser,,, if ya want a good quiet fan go ahead and pop for the fantastic fan,,

The expense of The Crab is starting to hurt, and I haven't even outfitted the GALLEY yet. So for 13 bucks plus a few more for shipping, I have a ceiling vent with a crank and screen.

I'm sure it would be nice to have a fan there, but for now, I gotta do what I gotta do.

This weekend, I rushed like a nut to at least get all of the galley framing in... including the cabinets...plus the countertop, which I laminated from 3 pieces 1/4 ply. I used flakeboard for the back skins. This was both FREE material that came with my mail-order plywood buy from Massachuseets, and I was glad to use it!

Didn't look at the Kuffel plans once--just used Tom's photos as a guide!

So this weekend, it's on to the hatch.

...Cracker, many people have popped for a cheaper fan and were sorry they did and latter upgrade. I would recommend you checkout the Fantastic brand fan

Cracker, I agree with Madjack. I've seen the Tantastic 4000r in action and it's impressive....................I plan to use it in my tear.

You're using my photos to guide you? We got the blind leading the blind here folks. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

I agree, Missouri is one of the most miserable places to spend a hot summer. Mad dogs and Englishmen are not the only things out in the Noon day sun. You can add 18-year-old fools with romantic notions of "seeing the world" to that list. I did my Army basic training at Fort "Lost in the Woods, Misery", (Ft. Leonard Wood, MO) from June to August of '79. Man, that was one miserable summer.

The problem I see with the FANTASTIC is that if you have a standard style vent and don't have the teardrop under a canopy and it rains then you close the vent and have NO FAN. I have a better option that works equally as well. I have an 1200W INVERTER in my galley to run the microwave and a cheapy 120V AC fan from wally world or Kmart will move loads of air and even with the inverter will draw less from your deep cycle than the DC powered FANTASTIC. A cheap 100W inverter for less than $20 will run the fan and the AC is maybe $10. The beauty of the AC fan I got is that it is a clip on style so you can position it as you like and it don't matter if the vent is closed casue it's raining. From what I have read on the net the FANTASTIC draws over 2A DC on high. My AC fan thru the inverter draws only 1.5A and provides loads of air movement ! The upside is also an inverter which can vbe used for other things like charging your cell phone or running other low wattage AC appliances. Please do not take this as a knock for the FANTASTIC fans as I know they are a great product, my idea is for something much much cheaper and just as effective!

Because of my age and the political circumstances of my lifetime, I've thus far lived without being an eligible draftee nor volunteer. (The draftee part of which can of course change at any moment, the way things are going these days.)

Besides, SOMEONE had to remain a civilian to take care of the women.

And believe me, I was doing you a big favor:

After a few days with me, they were all THRILLED to have you back home!!!

Chip.
The problem you have is you always park your teardrop by them trees with those fast growing "ROOTS" at night. You would figure with a ploy like that you would have all the companionship you would need. Since they would be trapped

I just spent the first week in July camping in Missouri and had a great time. It was hot, but tolerable. Most nights, we ran the fantastic vent fan on low. We have the model with a built in thermostat, so if it does cool off after we fall asleep, it shuts off automatically saving the battery.

We have also used in when it was raining outside. The cover shingles over the opening, so unless it is a heavy downpour or really windy, using the fan with the vent cracked open is not an issue.

We had a great time in Missouri, even climbed it's hightest mountain (yes, there are mountains in Missouri). Here is proof.

Ira, I know you are planning on an all 120V system, and are not planning a vent with a fan. Regardless, it wouldn't hurt to run a wire up there now in the build stage in case you change you mind later own.

Too late. I know I should have ran it before, but I was being stubborn.

Worst comes to worst, I'll go the portable fan route too, and plug it in. For now, I'm just rushing just to get certain things done. The money is running out and my wife is sick of signing for UPS packages.

STEVE! HELP! I NEED THOSE HOBBIT WINDOW DRAWINGS!
