Thanks. No guess on the weight yet. Unfortunately it's going to be heavy. They built my trailer heavier than I wanted and with my construction techniques it ain't going to be light. I think a lot of people build heavy on their first and then go lighter on subsequent builds. IF (and that's a big if) the Boss lets me build another, i will probably go lighter. I've learned a lot of things since I started...

Believe me, the Boss is prodding enough! Getting the sides up lit a fire under me. I was starting to slow a little but I'm back in the saddle. I want to be campable by Beaver's Bend (end of March). The back cabinets are cut and being urethaned. It's only in the 30s here today so the urethane tends to take a little longer drying than it did when the temps were in the 90s. Once I get that finished, the cabinets go in and then I'll make the face frame and doors. Then the roof, then the hatch. Once I do that I will be campable. I won't have a working galley but that will come.

Mark, did you have prior woodworking skills, did you learn them as you went, or did they teach you all that in vet school?
You're really pretty good! Of course, you may be like me, a perfectionist, so things that come out crappy the first time get redone...and redone...and redone until it's either right or fingers get maimed or money runs out.
I asked about your curb weight because I had noticed the heavy construction...which isn't a bad thing...but I was just thinking about your tow vehicle. Of course, you might not be planning on pulling it across twelve states, so it wouldn't matter anyway. Just wondering in a friendly way.
I REALLY like your air conditioning setup. It's one of the most practical ones I've seen. And I will probably rip that design right off of you!
Will your bedding be very far from the face of it?

No prior skills to speak of beforehand. It's all "on the job" training. I had never build cabinets before. Not bad for my first try although there are some things I wish I had done better. But part of why it's taking me so long is that I want everything "just right".

You're really pretty good! Of course, you may be like me, a perfectionist, so things that come out crappy the first time get redone...and redone...and redone until it's either right or fingers get maimed or money runs out.

Thanks! Yep, that's me (see above). I've been that way as long as I can remember. Cindi says I'm too much of a perfectionist sometimes. But if I'm cutting on your dog or cat, you would want me to be perfect wouldn't you??

I asked about your curb weight because I had noticed the heavy construction...which isn't a bad thing...but I was just thinking about your tow vehicle. Of course, you might not be planning on pulling it across twelve states, so it wouldn't matter anyway. Just wondering in a friendly way.

My tow vehicle is rated for 2500# so I should be ok.

Thanks again. Go ahead and use it. I got the idea from woodyperk. His setup is similar with minor changes. He had a diverter made out of sheet metal. I wish mine was like that but I made mine out of wood and lined it with flashing tape. His intake vents are along the edge near the back of the galley while mine are on each side of the unit. Should work the same. It does take up galley space but I like it there.

Will your bedding be very far from the face of it?

The bedding will stop about 2 inches from the face of the unit. The unit blows up so it should not be a problem.

Mark...you are doing an awesome job on your tear. :applause:

Certainly setting the bar high for the rest of us that are building here in the good ole south central. I'm gonna have to work hard if I want to park next to that at a gathering here someday.
