Question for the Sketchup Gurus??

Postby tinksdad » Thu Jan 15, 2009 11:06 am

I don't know if I was just bored or what.

I dug up the factory specs on a 5 wide torsion axle and drew it up in Sketchup 7. It has standard height inboard brackets (60" edge to edge), 0 degree drop and 5 on 4 1/2" hubs. I can open the file on my computer, I can open a new drawing in Sketchup and import it and it's fine. I can manipulate it, work with it, whatever. But everything I have tried to do to upload it to the Sketchup Library to share doesn't seem to work. It won't download from the library. I keep getting an error message about "recursive component" when I try to download it from the library. I deleted it from the library. There's no sense leaving a defective file there.

If anybody wants to look at it and see what I did wrong, I can e-mail the file. I sure would like to know how to correct it so I don't make the same mistake again in the future.

P.S. I just thought it would be nice to have the axle all ready drawn for any body who likes to play with Sketchup.

In case anybody wants to see what it looks like, here's a couple of quick renders of a 4' version of the axle I slapped under an unfinished profile.

I've been playing around with the Retrobox file you sent me a while back. I like the design, and the possibilities.

Got bored again!! Found the specs on the stub axles

Here's the link to a set of torsion stub axle assemblies in Sketchup library, if you have any use for them. Same as the full axle....0 degree drop with 5 on 4 1/2" hubs.
