Camping Buddy "Una" - Una,s Winter Photo Update

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

Postby hiker chick » Sun Jan 18, 2009 7:15 pm

Mike -- My final three were the Canon xsi, Canon 50D and the Nikon D90.

Was a tough call. Ultimately I selected a lens (the Nikkor 18-200) and that dictated the camera.

Both of our dogs nipped at us when they were young. It seems to be their favorite way to show affection.

The oldest, Pepper, stopped nipping about a year ago. He also stopped jumping on us about a year ago. He was approx. two years old when he learned to stop nipping and jumping.

Joey, on the other hand, still nips. When he gets really excited to see me, like when I came home from Kentucky last week, he really nips a lot. But it is a very gentle nip. He knows not to bite. But damn, daddy is home, and he wants to show me just how happy he is to see me.

Your pup will outgrow the nipping phase... Just give it time.

Mike...

We are training her more and more all the time. I can feel the difference of a real light nipping but also can feel whe the pins go thru my skin. Darn they are sharp.

One thing we heard was that the pup was in an apartment building. The couple were gone long hours. And the interest was not there to begin with. Thes dogs as any in my opinion get bored and stressed if not spoken to or played with as any youngster would.

It was also that this pup had not been taken outdoors before now. Which is beyond my understanding.

Here we have a small yeard and we live on the ground level as well as next to nice forest and river and National Park.

Right now as I write she is under the computer table sleeping. Cant hear no snoring yet though

I,ll get some new photos as things progress.

Also we changed the name she had. Which was Nata derived from Natalia.

We changed it to Unna or Una as our son calls her which means Little One
in the Sami Language. The Kennel Name is Snowmist "Untold Unity".

So starts the adventure.

I can understand that your dogs are happy to see you.

This one as Suvi said this evening is my dog seems like because she folows me around more than her so far.

That's quite a versatile lens you got there. Combined with a really good camera that can shoot really good quality at high ISO settings, I'm sure you are really pleased with your camera. The D90 was my first choice.

But since all I take pictures of is teardrops and dogs, it didn't make sense to spring for the more expensive camera. And that's how I ended up with the Canon Xsi.

Strange story, Finn, of the original owners. Puppies are inconvenient, sometimes destructive (in my case, three pair of high heels and a hiking boot), expensive and maybe they just learned the hard way that it's not for them.

Whatever the reasons, thank goodness they gave her up young so she could bond with another family during her impressionable first few months.

So how old is she?

So another owners opinion of a destructive and problamatic dog is not true in anyway. Not with having her with us for the short time. My opinion is that, I think we saved this pup from being destroyed at a young age.

Classic Finn

Thank God this pup found you all, Finn!!!

You are a blessing to her and I'm sure she will be to you, as well.

She's beautiful!!

Please post LOTS of photos. Her photos are therapy!

 :applause: :) [/b]

Thank You Hiker Chick, I think we did the right thing. There is not much difference in the original pup and this one. Except the pigment. And it could yet change but no guarantee.

1st shots in a week and we,ll have her fully checked while there as well.
She is micro chipped as well. And registered with the Finnish Kennel Club.

I dont know what else to tell you folks about her. She is growing fast.
You can find her in the Snowmist Website. In the U Litter photos.
Name Snowmist Untold Unity.

I,ll get more photos too. ;)

Finn,

She's a beauty... train her well, and you'll have many good years with her.

Oh, she looks so tired...

Ohh she does tend to find socks and shoes and as well as our hiking boots

And she,ll take an occasional nip at our toes.  Inconvenient can be the correct wording. Hah

At the moment she is 10 weeks and plus 2 or 3 days. ;) At least yes the owners realized this in the early weeks that its not there thing.

I was asked by the Kennel if this pup shows any signs of stress or other disorders and we can truly say none shown.

She,s a kind little pup too. Pups are pups.

She's such a doll.

Has me thinking Gidget could use a pal...

But I've wondered if she's the only child type.

We,ll do our best. That photo was taken at the previous owners house.
The only photos taken by us is with our son and wife in the photos.

She,s quite active in the day and at night she finds a place under the couch or bed or as at the moment behind the computer table. She watches with one eye open to see where I go and she follows

Sounds like a baby duck, and you're mama.

Now that I think about it... Gidget still follows me around.

Yup she,s finally home..  Thanks Dave. So far no furniture destroyed. Fingers crossed. :) She,s a lot different than the English Springer Spaniel that passed away from our lives.

But does bring happiness back into the wifes life now. She still misses her other buddy much. I think you have the same type of dog correct Dave?
