O.T. - Not vintage but beautiful lantern

Hi all,

We have had a lot of talk about lanterns and especially the big hat models. Here's a Petromax lantern that I just love. It runs on white gas so it falls into the "real lantern" category.



They make it in polished brass and polished nickel. They aren't cheap but they are beautiful.

They are pretty and they are expensive but it seems they are giving near or more than that for old ones so it's really not unreasonable I guess for what you are getting.
No, I'm not gonna rush out and buy one, but I'm sure they'll sell plenty of them.

Had to see how much. $139.99 and free shippingisn't horrible for the lantern your showing. I wonder how long the brass would stay shiny with use? Some of the pristine vintage lanterns go for big buck$ compared to the original sale price but look at how much inflation has occurred since then. Danny

How do they get the handle over that big hat?????

I believe the wide brim is not attached. You set it in pace after you set it down or you put the handle thru it and carry it.

Lots of accessories that can be put on these lanterns also, cooking, radiators, reflectors etc.....Doug

Has anyone here tried one of those lovely lanterns? Do they work well as a stove or a heater? Are they as good as they look? They are a bit on the high side, but if they do everything they say that they can do, they might be worth it.
